Karyn, I have mine beside a north window backing onto a bush. They do not get a lot of light. Neither do they grow much. Sometimes, they do flower for me though. They do get room temperature, and they tend to keep their leaves. My own thinking is that they don't like to be in the dark for 3 months like their one-toned comrades. Also I don't think they like the temperature to be as cold as their one-toned comrades tolerate. I trimmed the leaves of mine back,and let them grow new leaves suitable for their environment. I don't fertilize them at all, but do water on a regular basis. Personally, I think they make interesting house plants during the winter. I have not had trouble with mites on them at all, inside or outside. I think the fuzzier leaves has a lot to do with that.

Well Ruth Ann, if you want to quote something, how 'bout doing it right, instead of being so sarcastic?? Anyways, I said that for me they have been fine, and we are COLD!! I have recieved many in the past two weeks, and not a problem yet. So it has nothing to do with the postmans hotness, just what you are willing to risk, I guess. It is just kinda is upsetting that one can't post their point of view here, without someone coming along and purposely mis-quoting someone to make them sound bad. Thanks Tammie

I'm far from an expert, but here's my two cents worth =:) Gardening, in my opinion, is an experiment in which no two situations are alike. Just because something will work for me in my yard, doesn't guarantee it will work in yours. You, of course, know that. Having said that, if you're "itching" go for it! Plant half of what you're wanting to now and half later. It is a bit early, but what harm can it do? If it works, that's great, and if it doesn't you'll know better next time. I think there's threads here you could research, although I find it's hard to get much info for Saskatchewan growing conditions. It seems a lot of people on this forum are lucky enough to live in warmer places. I've tried to overwinter geraniums the same way a seasoned gardener friend has for years, and all mine died. Your plant looks great and healthy, I would say the cooler temps are the reason for the pods being small. If you can stand the stuff (the smell) Alaska fish fertilizer is a great one to use for an in ground plant. Though sometimes I use what I have on hand like MG tomato plant food 18-18-21 with some micro nutes. But I container garden more than in ground. Here is a pic of one my plants using the MG, only has two lonely pods but can't see them in the pic. Mark
