Pruning... there is soooo much of it this time of year that it sometimes seems daunting. I've found that if I dedicate only a certain amount of time each day - say 2 hours - and stick to that, then it becomes more managable.

Anything that deals with teetering on the top of a ladder. I'm getting too old for that sort of thing, it's making me really nervous the last year or so. Sue

I'm with you Davissue, old or not, ladders are NOT my thing. I start with the vertigo by the 3rd rung.

I put off pruning my climbing roses too. Every weekend I would look at them and say I need to get them stripped and pruned. I finally did it after about a month of thinking about it.
The next chore I will procrastinate about is the annual spring pond cleaning.
Moving plants is another one I tend to put off. I've been known to think about it for over a year until it finally gets done.

That would be pruning the Westerland rose, closely followed by pruning the rest of the yard. (Yes, that one rose is more daunting than the whole yard!) As Westelle said there's so much of it to do. I've already dedicated that chore to next weekend. The good part is that I have a new (barely used) chipper/shredder that makes short order of turning the clippings into tiny pieces that I use as mulch or add to the compost pile. I used to spend hours cutting everything with my little Felco pruners.... sometimes also clipping my fingers.

Davissue and Wanda - we're in good company. The ladder thing is not my favorite, especially when I'm way at the top pulling out a big tangled cane that seems to go on forever.

I thought of one more "put off" thing - repotting plants in the big pots - 18-24". I've got three roses and three hydrangeas that need repotting. It's such an unwieldy job, but oh so satisfying when it's done.

Gee, this all sounds so familiar. I climbed on my home roof and my shed roof to prune climbers that I can't reach. I still have to go back and finish MAC, but she's loaded with buds, so that will wait. I bought a (big mistake) 10' laddar and I hate using it. Love to prune, hate to climb.
I do picture myself falling off and impaled on a few rose thorns.
I did purchase a long handled pruner that has really helped.

Scalping my (Bermuda Tiff) lawn, which I do about every other year. It's a bit labor intensive. I also need to weed my front beds. Blech!

Well the rain bailed me out from these chores last weekend :)

That Bermuda lawn - which only gets fertilized twice a year, and fortunately did spread some just before the light rain we had.

The 2nd thing is cutting that Bermuda lawn. It's mostly up hill and the mower usually conks out a time or two. It really needs to have the carburetor adjusted as it keeps fouling the spark plug. Good ol' HD special - and needs another trip to the shop already.

Ah well - gripe, gripe, gripe. At least my veggies are doing well - last fall's plantings paying off.

But - I really like to procrastinate about lots of things when the weather isn't very nice.

Pruning roses and maybe starting tomato and pepper seedlings.

Pruning an old climbing rose was a chore I have avoided until now, but I started it yesterday. I removed at the bud 3 old canes as big as my wrist. Now I have to remove all the wood of those canes from the arbor, what a JOB! Al
