Blue Bird Greenhouse opinions
Comments (13)Ann - you are right - until you are successful in growing your own babies - you are stuck with buying plants. Both vendors you mentioned are great and I ordered and will order from both of them in a future. Violet Barn mostly carries Ma's and Rob's hybrids and that's the place to order the newest masterpieces of these hybridizers. BlueBird - they have a very good selection of great violets including oldies and if you are just building your collection - it is a place to go. After you develop your personal preferences - you will be unevitably hunting - for just one plant you MUST have - all over the country. But you need to work on your leaf rooting. My guess is your soil is too wet. My latest choice of starting the leaves is in a transparent shoe box. I check it from time to time - and just splash some water on the bottom. The soil can stay barely moist - and air - very humid - and the leaves do not touch the sides. Good luck irina...See MoreNeed help! Can't let me drawft jade die please
Comments (12)Jades should be available at most nurseries locally. The Port. afra is very commonly sold as a Dwarf Jade or Baby Jade or Mini Jade. Many folks are confused by this all around the world, in fact. When you get your Jade (and when these Port. afra cuttings get bigger), you'll want to use a free-draining mix that is composed of porous, gritty components primarily - such as perlite, pumice, lava rock, turface, sharp gravel (no sand!), and a small fraction of fine bark or potting mix (if you must). In your zone 3 Winters especially, you'll want a mix that dries out within a week to help prevent root-rot. Josh...See MoreFinal Two Backsplash Tile Choices - Opinions, Please
Comments (29)The paint color might not be a perfect choice with the granite, but I don't think it looks terrible with it. Especially since once the granite is installed, I think it it will probably just read dark grey or black being a flat horizontal surface. Here's a mock up of your two tiles. This doesn't really address the swirl patterns in the tile which someone mentioned might be busy because the mockup is not to scale. I put the wood color twice to be like the base cabs and uppers. Paint at the top and a just a sliver of the granite since that's more how you see it. As far as color goes, of the two choices, I like the left one better. But I still think you can find something that ties everything together. The limestone, on right, looks way too pinky to me. It is really difficult to judge though since we are not seeing in person. Just for fun, here it is with the more rich color wood and granite that someone posted above. I happened to have saved a kitchen and it was near your mockup picture in my photos. I thought hmm, I wonder what that backsplash would look like with your finishes. Ehhhh, not loving it, but I like that it seems to have some of the subtle grey blue in the counter and the grey green color of your paint mixed. Here was the original kitchen I snipped it from....See MorePlease show your colorful jades or your favorites! 2017
Comments (65)Hello guys, thanks to Nancy and a couple of other good friends, I was told to take a gander over here and I will take an updated pic.....It is full of color this year after it flowered...I will be back soon with a pic)))) I am thinking many here don't know why it's called the 'Mother Jade'? Because at one point years ago when one ever saw it, many didn't know the name after giving out dozens of cutting around this forum, and so many decided that should be the name...
