Will a light frost hurt freshly cut Brugs?

Will a light frost hurt freshly cut Brugs? They are calling for temps 37 and up with a chance of patchy frost. Whats your take on this. I prefer not to dig up the 20 or so I got down But I will if need be. I also have about 50 tomatos in the gound and Dahlias and the list goes on. The greenhouse was acting like and easy bake oven. One extreme or the other.

I ment freshly planted. Duh Yall excuse me. I ment freshly planted. Adeline is to big to cover with a bucket. Cover or dont, dig or dont or just leave them be? HELP!

Any frost will damage the brug foliage and new growth but it's probably going to be mainly cosmetic and they will recover easily. Tomatoes on the other hand will probably be killed. They're very sensitive to cold damage as are basil, eggplant and many others. The dahlias will probably be alright. Good luck. They are calling for lows in the high 30's here tonight and I'll find out tomorrow if I had any damage. I don't have the time or energy to drag pots back into the greenhouse. It's the same here with the warm GH temps. I've had to have the vents and doors open as well as the exhaust fan running. It's time to put on the shade cloth as well. Even if it's only in the 50's when the sun is out the GH temp is in the 80's. I hope you don't suffer any frost damage.

Sorry to hear about your Brugs. Don't lose hope. We have also been hit by a long hard freeze this Winter. I was caught off guard and 2 of my baby Brugs were frozen solid, then they turned to mush. They were 5" tall, and I cut them down to stumps. After 2 weeks of spending sunny days on the sheltered front porch, and nights inside by the fire, one of the brugs is sprouting 8 little leaves. The jury is still out on the other one. -I bet the one that hasn't come around is the purple Datura. I don't think they are as tough as the Brugs. I'm sure yours will come back better than ever. Kate

I know yesterday was my "blessed" day. I don't know how that happened. After all the yrs of crap, I guess it finally became a good day? LOL I totally didn't know if I could or even would get any cuttings this soon, but I had hoped, so I figured it couldn't hurt to throw the question out there. :D I've loved these particular plants for a very long time, but being a military wife, it's been far too difficult to even have plants, much less ones I would have to lug pots around. Heh! Now that hubs career is winding down, it's time to wind up the garden so to speak! *g* I am so very grateful to each of you for all the help and knowledge gifted to me, truly I am. Thanks everyone. I was getting upset when I still couldn't stand light a couple days later & was afraid I fried my retinas. DH has welded a couple times without his helment & he was far more miserable than I was. I looked it up on the computer after I could see again & was reassured because apparently this happens to a good many people. I don't remember seeing anything about it actually happening before this though. I was always very careful about not getting it near my mouth & would come inside to wash my face every time I got it on me. It didn't bother my skin. Karma, I am shamed,I normally sterilize my cutters in between plants but I was in a big hurry & these were the seedling beds where they were all stuffed in together. Live & learn. We've had frosts & two freezes so far & it's calling for snow showers tonight & tomorrow. Chaz, Welcome. My best friend lives on Mendum street in Haverhill. Are you anywhere near her? She's not into plants but it would be great if she could come & smell yours next year. All I can do is send her pictures. LOL Linda

Mike, I sent you an email too. Just kidding. I figure your mail box is full now, lol. Hopefully Xena will make it this time. (Keep that rooted one for me just in case, lol) I will not put it in that bed again I know for sure. I probably should have left it alone. When I went to dig it out the roots were still alive and it had a tiny green shoot coming up from the roots so I potted it up .... and it died. Yep you might want to hang onto the rooted one, lol. Didn't have any trouble in any of the other beds where I jammed in a bunch of brugs. She was going to have her own spot all by herself with no other brugs. See what I get for playing favorites, lol. I should have just stuck her in with everything else and she would have been fine, lol. Hey Dweeb, you better start another thread for your cuttings. Its gonna get lost in here, lol. Man you had all those and we didn't get a pic all year. You need a whipping girl, lol.

Good luck. I just got in from covering mine with a tarp. The big ones in the ground that is.

Thanks I wish I was there I would just run over and help. I think im just gonna cover the ToMaters. I wish I had a shade cloth but Im to cheap to buy one so I guess Ill jsut keep doing what im doing. LOL In and Out In and Out. LOL

no big deal Kristy - cover them! easy enough to do this with plastic , buckets or whatever you can find!!

I used empty pots to cover the smaller ones but I have a couple that are about 2 or 3 feet tall. Thats why I had to use the tarp.
