which grass or groundcover is best and easiest?

We have a gentle sunny slope on the side of our house that I'm not interested in gardening right now. My BF would really love to have that bumpy korean grass, I believe it's zoysia tenuifolia that he's talking about, but price is a MAJOR consideration and the only place I found it was 4.99/sq. foot. Don't even know if this is a good price, I've never bought sod! Are there any suggestions for easy care, low water requirement grasses that will grow lumpy like that? Or should I try to grow the zoysia from seed?
