Very nice marlothii and very nice friend!

It has a very interesting growth pattern right now - the lower leaves are lined up so that it is essentially a 'flat' plant lower down on the base. The upper leaves seem to be taking on the more typical alternating leaf pattern I would expect from aloe...almost as if the plant is turning itself as it grows up. Is this typical of marlothii, or is it just my imagination?

I think the growth pattern you see is typical of A. marlothii. A very nice specimen, BTW, a lot better looking than mine.

I gave mine the briefest total sip of water yesterday - that was three days after repotting. The old soil contained lots of feeder roots (I'm afraid I'm not the gentlest of plant removers) but it was repotted with some main roots intact.
