Prickley Pear (I think) found in woods...HELP!

First, let me begin with a big...OUCH!!! Yesterday, while walking my dog up the street, I noticed this cacti in the woods across the street. I returned to the spot later with a bucket and brought them home. (I just love it when my neighbor decides to trash a plant.) I was wearing garden gloves but those little sticker things went through. Honey, honey hush!!! Didn't think I'd ever get them all out of my hands.

Anyway, I believe the plant is a Prickley Pear. However, I'm not sure how long it had been there. Some of the pads are wrinkled and appear to be drying out. I just stuck them in some garden soil mixed with sand for now. Do you think they will recover. There were 5 or 6 of them. The pics below are of one pot, I have 2 others. I do know that he had them growing in the ground.

This is my first experience with a cacti and I'm excited. I didn't water them very much. Please, look at my pictures and tell me what you think. Thanks in advance...Bon
