Does look like a frosty pink - one of the old stalwarts. But as jesus said, it could be any. I had a frosty pink years ago, and the blooms looked like that, kind of a "quilted" look. I always enjoyed it - and don't know why I don't have one now. It was always one of the most strongly scented brugs I had. Roses. Always smelled like roses to me. Thank you for the beautiful pics - I think I'll get one for myself. (Short/small brug, stays a manageable size.)

Sadly, just because a bagged soil is called 'cactus soil' that doesn't necessarily mean it's any good for cacti and succulents as we've said many times before, it's just sales blurb. They will die in that mix whatever their size, large or small, the result will be the same. Can't tell what the planter/s look like size wise in relation to the plants or whether it's one big planter, but whichever, there's way too much unused 'peaty' type compost. It will cause one of two things to happen...if you water thoroughly which they will need (but they also need to drain properly) it will stay wet and they'll rot. Failing that, the soil may become hydrophobic, you will think you are watering it but it will stay dry at the roots, as spray bottles don't water efficiently. Please do a search for a more suitable mix using the search box a the top, your plants will thank you in the end. Gill

Sooo... Looks like a Mammillaria. I'll wait for someone with more expertise to finish the ID. SOIL: This is very important. An easy (and good) soil mix to do is 60% perlite and 40% cactus and succulent. Easy to get ingredients. If you want to use a more hi-tech mix, you can search 'gritty mix' in the forum search bar above. I would stick with the simple mix for now. WATER: Only water when the soil is completely dry. You can check this with a wooden skewer or toothpick. Wait until the soil is completely dry, then wait a few more days after that, then you can water again. Pay close attention to see how the cactus responds. You may have to monitor the mix pretty closely for the first few waterings before you get the hang of it. POTTING: The pot size you have it in right now is good. Shoot for a pot with a drainage hole. Terracotta is good. SUNLIGHT: Mammillarias like a lot of sun. Put it outside if you can during the warmer months. Make sure you ease it into full sun so it doesn't burn. Pay close attention to it during this transition period. Indoor lighting over the winter is trickier, but you can cross that bridge when you come to it :) Also, prepare space for a lot of plants :)

I'm sorry you haven't gotten a reply. We have people here who know a lot, so maybe someone will chime in. I'm not the one to ask, but it does look thirsty to me. Paddles look flat and dehydrated. When you say "not very much," do you mean once a month or? Do you know your USDA gardening zone?
