Early Valentine Presents LOL Thank You Karyn and Chena

I just wanted everyone to know I got my presents a little early this year.

Chena sent me a wonderful assortment of seeds that I'm going to be very busy playing with. Now I'll have to look up over half of them to see what the are. (big fat grin)I wish that seed mat that I ordered would come on in.

And our darling Karyn sent me something I've been looking for the last couple of months. I'm not sure I should mention what it is. Somethings are better kept as secrets. Shhhh Karyn, we will have them all wondering what the heck I got from you. (wink) I'll never tell.

All joking aside, I really do appreciate both of you and all the things you two do for all of us on this forum.

Happy Valentines a few days early to each and everyone on this site. You are ALL Sweethearts as far as I'm concerned.

I was going to get some of those cute little valentines cards like we (us older than dirt people) use to pass out at school to our classmates.

Ya'll would have died laughing at me at Wal-Mart, the dollar store and anywhere else I could think to look. All they have are those awful UGLY Bratz, Spiderman, and a bunch of other dorky cards I've never even heard of. Didn't see a one of those Cupids or Angels, and Be My Valentine and cute slogans written on them. Yuck, our poor kids of today are really missing out on some cute OLD STUFF!

I CHOOSE EACH OF YOU TO BE MY VALENTINE THIS YEAR!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it Kylie. Now I have to tell everyone how you sent me my seeds. I'm surprised my post office even delivered it to me. (grin) And I want to know how you did it.

The bubble envelope that Kylie sent was covered with beautiful pages out of a flower catalog or something. It had flowers all over it and discriptions and so forth. But the neat/or hard part about it was the way she put it on there I couldn't find a place or seam to open it. LOL Very neatly done and I didn't want to mess it up.

Did you use some kind of spray to glue it on or what? I have seen people do that with small seed packs they are exchanging, but never anything as large as the bubble envelope wrapped like that...it was awesome. Thank you for all the trouble you went to, giving it a very special touch that took some time to do.

I loved the little address things you made too. I'd like to have about a dozen made like that with my name on them. Very pretty.

I also want to thank everyone on here for being so helpful and good to me. It's wonderful to have garden buddies who can relate to your love of nature and flowers.

Now with that said, do any of you grow daylilies and if so do you ever order off the Lily Auction? That place will make a gambler out of you real quick. LOL I placed several orders that I really couldn't afford, but I just had to have some of them. That thing makes it way to easy to get in over your head. I'll be eatting beans and bologna for a month so I can pay for my orders. LOL Do any of you grow dayliles? Do you have any to share or trade? I just started growing a few last year. I now have over 100 named ones, but I just planted them last year and they are not big enough to trade and share. Hopefully they will be next year. I'm crossing my fingers to see how many of them come back this spring.

I have a few daffodil and other bulbs blooming in the yard. Spring must not be too far off.

Day Dreaming about my dogwoods,azaleas, irises, daylilies, roses, brugs and many other plants in bloom.

Hi Linda44;Wildflower et al: Lovely pix. Thanks very much for sharing such beauty on these cold dreary days! I'm looking at my puny little sticks in both water and pots and find it hard to believe that these ugly ducklings could turn into swans lol..I am eagerly awaiting the warm weather this season because it will be my first time growing Brugs. Oh, what a precious box that the GKs made! Your roses are also so beautiful--my hubby is not a flower person at all. Your mantle, tree and chandy are all so festive looking. I think you table looks inviting. I wish I had some red glasses or stemware. I have been adding to my dishes in the past couple of months. I got the table bug here and have been on the hunt. I have a large set of everyday dishes in an offwhite with a dark blue ring around the lip area. (don't know if that is what it is called) I read a lot here about mixing and matching plates instead of sets. So, I have been haunting the area thrift stores, GW and SA and even a few estate sales. I picked up some assorted plates in neutral colors at these places. I am picky and have spent a lot of time looking for what I wanted. I am buying 4 of each thing that I find and like. I have found some solid white dinner plates, black octagon plates that I got the dinner and salad ones, packaged together for not much $$, white with black swirls salad plates, some animal print looking salad plates, a few blue cobalt glass, clear glass salad plates, green dinner plates, some green salad plates that will blend with them, 4 gold DPs, and my favorite is 4 ivory plates with a pink edge and pink roses and the matching soup bowls. I found 5 pink salad plates that will work with them at TJ Maxx over the weekend. I also have picked up some snowman dishes and Christmas ones in the after Christmas deep discount sales. I haven't paid much for any of these and now have quite an assortment. I also picked up 4 new terracotta colored salad plates and 4 new white square salad plates at Target recently for $2 a set. They were regularly around $15 a set. Now, I have to concentrate on glasses.

Annie, you'd be surprised to see how often stuffed beef heart with gravy is one of the nightly specials at some of the old country taverns in our area. Dgkritch, here's a mini cheesecake recipe I've made. It's best made a day ahead of time so the cookies soften up. OREO COOKIE CHEESECAKES Ã¯Â¿Â½ makes 16 20 Oreo cookies 16 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature 3/4 cup sugar Dash of salt 2 Tbs. flour 3 eggs 3/4 cup sour cream 3 Tbs. sugar Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 16 muffin cups with paper liners. Separate 16 cookies in two, leaving the OreoÃ¯Â¿Â½s cream filling on each cookie half and placing any half into each cup liner, filling side up. Make crumbs out of the 4 whole cookies and set aside. In bowl of electric mixer, combine cream cheese, sugar, salt, flour and eggs. Beat for 4 minutes. Place one tablespoon of the mixture on top of each cookie half. Sprinkle the cookie crumbs on top and add the remaining cream cheese mixture on top of the crumbs. Bake for 20 minutes; remove from oven. Combine the sour cream and sugar. Spread each cake with the mixture. Return to the oven for 4 minutes. Remove from the oven and place remaining cookie halves on top of each cheesecake, filling side down. Cool and then store in the refrigerator. Serve chilled.

I hadn't been back to this post, and wanted to thank you for your kind thoughts with my GD#1. I am the luckiest grandma ever and get to spend as much time as I possibly can with my other grandkids. I adore them and now realize that my life would not have been complete without them. For those that asked, My sons girlfriend, is the one that was killed in the auto accident. They never married. She lived for a while after the accident, but died in November 2002. She had just turned 20. My GD turned 1 the following Christmas Day 2002. She is 6 months older than GD#2 and 3 years older than GS#1. We have asked for pictures and was sent some 4 years ago. She looks just like the girl version of my son. I continue to email and ask for pictures, but non have come. My youngest has sent letters. There will be a day when we are all united, and I am planning well for the day. She will know that she was loved and thought of often. My house is laden with the pictures I do have of her. Her gifts and ornaments wait paiently for her, and so do we. Trin
