Oops I went to ebay one night

Guess what John is getting for Valentine's Day, lol. I got him a Sam..... thats my story and I'm sticking to it. It should arrive Friday so perfect timing. Dang late nights get me in trouble but I must have been the only one that bid on it. Got it real cheap, lol.

Lol, I only have a foggy memory of doing it and got an email saying it would be shipped tomorrow right when we were talking about Valentine's Day, lol. All I remembered is it was one I wanted and nobody had bin on it but I thought I put it on watch not bid. Glad I did though. He was just talking about wanting a double of his own but wants to yank out my cherry tree and put it there. Not gonna happen. I hope the thing grows some branches and blooms this year so he will stop trying to get rid of it, lol. Night Lucy. Your buddy has a full belly and sound asleep.

Hi Bill, You are correct. As long as you add a lot of organic matter like leaves, shavings from horse stalls, etc. on a regular basis, your plants should have all the nitrogen they need on a steady basis. I can only think of a couple of cases where you might have a lack of nitrogen availability. One would be if you added in a lot of sawdust or wood chips or shredded wood that has not decomposed and tilled it into the soil. In that case, the wood products could tie up your nitrogen as they decomposed. It is OK, though, to have those on the soil surface as mulch. I assume your horse stall shavings have urine or horse manure on them and those should add enough nitrogen to the shavings to keep them from tying up nitrogen as they break down, I think. Another instance would be if your soil were to be incredibly wet for a long period of time after the plants were in the ground. In that case, the water actually clogs up the roots and keeps them from taking up nitrogen from the soil. I have had that happen three times since moving here--during the April-May-June flood months in 2004 and the flood months of May-June 2007. Then, after we received over a foot of rain in April '09 the plants had the same issue, but only for about 5 or 6 weeks and then the soil dried out enough that growth resume. If you have that kind of waterlogging, you have to wait it out. Once the soil dries out, the plants can conduct proper nutrient uptake again. There can be a separate issue where nitrogen is available in the soil but some plants cannot take it up and use it while soil temperatures are low. That's usually a short-term situation in the early spring though. It is so dry where you are, Bill, that I don't know if you'd ever have enough rain there to prevent nitrogen uptake. So, pile those leaves on and let them decompose. Plow or rototill them into the soil if you want. They'll only help and not hurt. It is almost impossible in our part of the country to put too much organic matter into your soil, although Jay has been trying. (He still got great soil test results though!) Best of luck to you too! Shee, sorry. I wasn't blaming you for anything you did wrong. I was privately shuddering about my own Ebay fears on your watch. If you didn't say there would be a tracking number, you certainly don't have to provide one. Just educate them about the saver shipping route. Hopefully you didn't over charge on shipping as that might be the only reason I can think of for someone leaving less than 100% positive feedback. If someone is charging me first rate shipping, then I expect first rate shipping. Of course, some people don't realize that all packages don't come with tracking. Besides, USPS tracking numbers are useless. They *never* work. I think they use fronts for tracking without the technology to back up the useless numbers they provide. FED EX and UPS, yes. With them, I can follow my shipments from anywhere, right to my doorstep, accounting for every stop.

Never learned to sew anything other than the required "home ec" school projects, lol. What I really don't understand is "this senior person at a fabric company could not answer a question about copying designs and copyright." Whether you're a professional or a "lay" guest with the sewing skills of an accomplished home seamstress, isn't the point learning about fabrics in order to buy same to replicate a design idea into something that would work in your own/client's home? Was this a "thing" directed at professional decorators, or just the average home seamstress interested in making their own home decor items? Obviously, I'm missing something regarding copyright being be an issue?

Interesting input! This is what eBay said to me: The item you listed uses electrical muscle stimulation and is not permitted on our site. While this particular device may be available over the counter, machines that deliver an electrical shock to the muscular system to alleviate pain are often available only by prescription to ensure proper usage. Because of this, and since we cannot easily tell which specific machines are available without prescriptions, eBay as a company has made the determination not to allow any of them to be sold within our marketplace. Weird that they allow the tens machines. It must be, as Lydia said, that someone reported my listing. The playing card incident happened some years ago. As best I can remember, eBay said vintage items like mine disrespected Native Americans. They requested that I make a donation to a certain N.A. charity. I don't recall whether donating would have enabled me to proceed with my listing. That doesn't sound quite right, but for some reason I'm thinking it might be a possibility.

I went on EBay last week, and ordered some REAL nice variegated clivia....from China! They look real nice...I hope they show up (Alive)...or better yet, I hope they show up!!! Although this person has impecable feedback & a website.

I have always wanted a couple...I just hope we have enough 'cold days' here for them to set flowers! But with the variegation, they are gorgeous even without flowers!

Anybody else here have any???

I wasn't busy at work one night last week........now I am expecting a box of plants, not from ebay tho. The only thing I can remember I ordered was a devils backbone!!!

No I didn't see the pics on DG. I had wanted one ever since Trigger posted a pic of his but had never seen it until now. Elizabeth I'll talk John out of a cutting for you when it grows a bit. He usually sends good size plants. I know you wanted it as bad as I did, lol.

Only Lucy should know the parental control password and Kristy, you have to ask permission from now on, lol. hmmm..maybe the password should just be on Paypal...she WILL go to other sites to order, lol.
