I just got mine and planted it yesterday, it said adeline likes afternoon shade.So I planted where she only gets moring sun. I stood in my new flowerbed and put markers where the morning sun hit and that is where I planted my plants. How are your cutting coming ? I have had great success with all of them except the white ones both rotted within 10 days. It seems all the small thin cutting have done excellent, its the thick ones that I am having trouble with, except for one Xena, she rooted within 4 days, and has been planted at the coast for the past 2 weeks, both Desiree are planted at the coast and I am going to take the meadow princess and plant in 2 weeks,I left them on the counter this week,and forgot to take them. I planted 60 small pots of aztec grass to ouline the new brugmansia bed, I have planted 3 pink hibiscus, 4 coelus plants, all in 5 gallon pots, 7 hollly ferns, 2 varigated rubber trees, 2 white lilly of the niles, and 5 brugmansia plants in my new bed. The cuttings from Filthyrich10 are doind great & should have flower this Summer. Have no idea what they are.

i just got mine as well. She is a fat nasty one! I cant wait to see her first flush of blooms.

Sound like you did a lot of work Barbra. Your yard is going to be so pretty. I don't have Adeline....yet, lol. Good luck with them!

Still in brug emergency room. They are DNR. It has taken all my ability to keep 1/2 alive. My CGarden's are going good. You are much better than me. Maybe I should give you them, and Adeline so I can at least come see them every once in a while. I have a bunch already. She was just soooo pretty and I wanted one for a while. It will be my only double. I did not know you were coming down Barbara. It was a real pretty weekend. We are in for 1 more cold week before winter is gone. February 15 is my plant date for seeds. This is historically by my calculations the coldest week of the year. It does not look that way this year but we will see.

I bet your garden is looking nice. Sounds like you have a plan. I have one but not a good one. I will as I become a better gardener.

She is a pretty one. I hope it does well. This one will not see my nasty sandy soil but get a 15 gallon container with a special mix and be buried in the ground. I reserved some premium morning sun just for my beauties. They will get the best I can offer but I will draw the line on bringing in for AC in the summer.

Jim, we just came down for the mardi gras party in Lamar, to help support the fire dept. They had a band that played music from the 50's and 60's. It was the best band I think I have ever heard. There were people 60's and 70's twisiting to the music. It was so much fun. I did take some brugmansia to plant, and also bought some from Lowes, the lady, marked down a verigated rubber plant 1/2 price, and they had some tropicals for $5.99 that I wanted to add the the new bed. I was standing in line to get my plants that totaled $29.50, and this lady handed me a coupon, for $10.00 off a $25 purchase, she said it would expire tomorrow and she would not be able to use it. What a lucky day, I got plants at your Lowes for 1/2 price. I have to tell you that your tropicals are $5.99 each for 5 gallon, and at our Lowes they are $12.99 for the same plants regular price. I went to get Red Sisters Ti plants, but they were terrible, I did not even want them for 1/2 off. She said they would get another shipment the end of Feb, so I will wait. I got three adeline cuttings this fall. Fairly thick but green cuttings. Everyone of them rooted and have not gotten any special treatment. I gave one away and the other two that I have are still doing great. They are in gallon size containers, getting full afternoon sun right now but that will certainly change in the summer. No brug can live with full sun here in the summer lol. I think Adeline is the least picky double I have.

Barbra,you mentioned 2 cuttings of Desiree, I think. Well I have two cutting of Desiree and one other slim cutting rooted. My question is: did you send me 2 or three Desiree? If it is 2, (I forget) then I can be sure that the other one is a Meadow Princess. Why didn't I mark them better!! tried to rely on memory....

Congrats on your Adelines guys.. I believe that is one I got from filthyrich soooo NO I don't have one LOL.. BUT I still have a guy that owes me a few plants and I think that is one he has so there is still hope...

I was there yesterday. I have been working on the well.(Finally have it set almost perfect) I always go through the garden area. I looked at the trees and some of the tropicals. I saw nothing on sale but some mite infested plants on a rack outside. So I went home and well you know bought a brug since Lowes wanted $ 30.00 for some ugly tropicals.

I wait until the weather breaks and the valley starts sending their plants. I do not mind when they are premium plants. Lamar VFD is a good place to spend your money.

that is good news. Sun LOL even the ants live in the shade during the summer. This is my one and only double. So many times things are bred for looks that the other good qualities are second. Here I need all the survivability that is possible. I have looked at here a long time it was a toss up between Daydreams and ADELINE.

Jim I had daydreams and it hated the heat here. Of course ours is extreme but it also like afternoon shade. NOL is one double that does better in the heat than some of the others, while it did not take full sun here it did way better than the others with extreme temps especially over 110+. I think that one should be crossed with CG just for the simple hardiness factor.
CG has great fragrance too- my bathroom is currently full of Rubirosa blooms, Rosamond blooms, one MEM bloom and one lone CG bloom---guess which one I can smell over all the others? LOL

Okay I'm confused here, where does CG come into play with Adeline? I read the BGI information on the hybrid and don't fine the CG?? Would someone direct me to this one??

I love my CG's. They are troopers and fuzzy. I was looking closely at my best performing plants and their leaves. They all are fuzzy. Not like my special CG's but very velvety feeling. Maybe it is their winter coat or they are adjusting to my climate??? Weird. CG stood in a row that was decimated by mites and bloomed all summer long. It was never bothered. I cannot remember when it did not have a least a few buds and flowers.

Jim, I got the plants by Lowes front door they were in great condition, the ones in the garden center were sorry, she offered them to me 1/2 price, I only took one variegated rubber tree, since I wanted another one. I did not think the ti plants were even worth 1/2 off,I would rather pay the $6 and get great plants,

Barry, we got 4 of everything except the Xena we got 3. I sent you 2 of all the cuttings except for Xena, you just got one. Kristy and I each have one cutting of all the plants, except for the triple orange, you wanted all 4. I had better luck with the thin cuttings, both white cuttings turned to mush within 10 days, all the way to the top, I know they were frozen, I have never seen anything like that before. I will take both mine and Kristys plants to the coast so that they can get a good head start, its been in the high 70's there, I checked their weather for the next 2 weeks and the lowest will be 72. I wish you would have kept your plants here, so they could have escaped those mites.

Jim, you have me checking my plants to see who is fuzzy, lol. I just want to pet the Hawaiian Double white in the window sill. It is so cute and leafy. I think I will leave it in the water since its happy. I change the water a couple of times a day. I wonder if I should put a little miracle grow in there for it.

I get lost at times at work. I work in bit and pieces and sometimes lock computer and leave for a while. Then come back and check windows and oops. I work with 10-15 open windows all the time.

Now Barbara I did a U turn and checked the Lowes. Nothing, Nada, bare. I could see where they had the older tropicals. I did find some variegated rubber trees for 6.99. I picked up two. They are gearing up for spring with massive truckloads. You are the luckiest shopper in the world bargains at my own Lowes which I go to at least once a week.

F4F- I find it strange that all of my performers from last year have fuzzy leaves. Not as fuzzy as Charles but very soft fuzzy. There has to be something there. Charles pollen will be used a lot this spring and summer. I already have 2 crosses from him. The pods are growing well and have been on few months.

SJN- New acronym CoG= Country Gardens, CG has to remain the same. Been around forever. He is King. Mr CG will have his pollen used a bunch. I am planning on trying the german Spot pollen on him as a pod parent. Poor plant must be embarrassed. He fashions himself as a donor not a recipient.

Jim, they might have been $6.99. The rubber tree I got had been nipped by the cold and when I asked her when they would get a fresh bunch of plants, since those looked so bad, she offered me the 1/2 off, I just bought the one. I also bought 4 of those colorful plants, that are red, orange, yellow and green foliage, just to add color to the flower bed, Saturday, those were by the front door and were in great shape. When we go back in 2 weeks, come buy and you can see them. You have to talk to the plant lady the one with the blond hair, she is the only one that can adjust the price. She is really easy to work with, I never even had to ask her, she just offered. I have not even been to my Lowes in the past month. I am waiting to get my bonus on 2-21st, before I can get in the spring swing. I want to get bricks to outline my new flowerbed, and I need 232 of the Windsor bricks to complete the bed, Victor at Wal Mart, told me that I can order them direct from the company and have them delivered right to the house, if I order 2 pallets. They are 25lbs each, so I think that is what I will do. Barbra,

Jim, I think that is a good idea using Super spot on CG! This is just my own personal opinion but it seems like sometimes, that flower form comes from the parent and color comes from the pollen donor! Which would explain why sometimes when a double is used for the mother plant and a color for a father plant, you could get a colored double...course it can go both ways too....I have some Super Pink pollen I could try on CG as well! I already hit this bloom with Bernstein though. I will do the next one with the SP pollen.

LOL okay, from now on CoG=country gardens.. got it! Speaking of initials and brugs...Is Super Spot SS? and if so then what is Shooting Star? Gotta go look that up now lol.

SJN- acronyms LOL. Text me.......OMG. I am going to try 2 types of breeding one for red color and hardiness and another for hardiness. CG mister fuzzy is the best all around plant I have. I have already done a CG x DR. Seuss and am waiting for the pod to ripen. I am also going try it on Tx. Pink it is a monster grower but not bug resistant and Wildflowers white she sent me. It tends to look ragged in our wind. I have pollen of MM, M treasure, MEM, Painted Lady and SuS (super Spot) I might as well do something with the flowers other than smell and look at them. This is their 2nd year so they have a root system to handle it all.

SP so make some very nice crosses. It is more fun when you mix the pieces anyway. I have done a lot of line breeding with animals over the years and with cloneable brugs it should make life easy except it is hard to band a seed and a seedling. I will devise a way unless someone has a good marking plan to share.

Sounds like you are making some good plans for a hardier brug with some color. Many german hyb. don't like CG and other yellows because she/they are prone to SB but many of us haven't had that problem as much here in the U.S, however when the german brugs start showing up more and more here-that may become an issue. I do love CG though!

Ah SuS seems right for super spot..I went looking for the acronym but didnt find it but found that super pink is SuP and it seems that Shooting Star is indeed SS (from seedsprout's website under seed listings if you click on that cross) LOL.. I have to laugh at some of these acronyms too because, like you said, whether you are texting someone or also medical jargon, computer jargon etc...they all mean diff things LMAO! For example ADL can mean Adeline or Activities of Daily Living (in the medical field):

SJN I would love some fresh Rubirosa pollen. I believe my plants believe it is spring. They are have flowers. I checked and I do not have a email for you so email me. Rubirosa looks as if it will give a deep color. Is it fragrant? My Grimaldis and Seuss's are flowering like crazy right now. Hope we do not have a real cold snap before March 1. Everything is putting on new growth right now.

Sent you both an email, let me know if you don't get it. Rubirosa has a light sweet fragrance not near as strong as CG but nice.

Yes, I have a few cuttings of Rosamond to grow. I saw where it was used in the cross of many of the popular brugs. Pollen is probably the easiest method. It is real hard to always have both parents. I enjoy their fragrance so it is a requirement of a cross. I it can live here it can live anywhere. We have the humid salty air from the gulf of Mexico, and temp with heat factors of 115 almost 9 months of the year. I do not know how the Indians ever existed here. I would have gone north. LOL

Out of them all Rosemond and Triscut might make it. They are limping. Still in emergency brug room. They are pretty pitiful . They could go south anytime but are acting like they might want to grow. All the rest are goners.
