cactusjordi, The shape is a bit different than most Acanthocereus I've seen. Might be a Selenicereus, I wouldn't mind that all too much. dufflebag2002, lol True, that is what I was saying earlier in the thread. I just hope I can get it to bloom further down the road, if it will. I only have like 6 cacti left, my cats ate the others while I was away. :( Lucky these were in the bathroom.

Looks like a Trichocereus of some kind. Doesn't quite look like the common, but still beautiful T. grandiflores. Your pot looks good along with the size. Give as much light as you possibly can. Soil should be fast draining. A good soil mix would be 50% perlite or pumice and 50% C&S soil. I don't know where you live so I dont really want to tell you when to water. I live in an area where I get zero rainfall from May-October and during these months I water my Thrichocereus once every 10 days. Your plant looks nice and healthy.your cactus looks juvenile still so don't expect blooms this year, but blooms will come eventually. Goodluck:).

Post over on the cactus and succulent forum, not the gallery. You have a better chance of getting an answer there, however the picture is not that good. Your cactus needs a much smaller pot and faster draining potting mix. Also there is too much soil packed up around the base of the cactus, it needs to be moved back a bit. Also need more light if that is its permanent place. That screen prevents the cactus from getting adequate light.

Thank you for commenting! I also sent my pic to a friend that has been keeping succulents and cacti for several years. She brought to my attention that she thinks I have two different types of plants going on. The one that looks like yours is thick, firm, dark green, has an alternating lobe pattern, grows straight, and does not have thorns. The other one looks like the previous poster's suggestion. It has a less pronounced, symmetrical lobe pattern and between each pair of lobes there are hairlike spines. That plant is also thinner, a lighter shade of green, and creeps over the edge of the bowl. What do you think? Am I seeing two different plants, or just younger and older stages of the same plant?
