Succulent identification help, please!

Hello! I would be very grateful for help with identification of a succulent house plant. Here are two photos:

This baby succulent is a cutting off of a "mommy plant" which is made up of dozens of these upright branches growing about 12-18 inches high. The flattened, striped/spotted leaves are between 1-2 inches long and are green or beige with brown markings. The leaves grow in sets of two. The mommy plant has seeds growing on the lower part of some of the branches; the seeds are about 3/8" in diameter, flat and round, and get dropped everywhere! And there are lots of "air roots" on some of the branches.

This is an awesome plant which was given to me by a friend who didn't know its name. Thanks in advance if you can help with identification! Lindsey :)

It's a Bryophyllum (Kalanchoe) - B. tubiflorum. In Southern California gardens it's an invasive plant, but it does have long-lasting flowers and its own charm. It's from Madagascar, and the plant family it belongs to is known to have those air / adventitious roots.

Cactusmcharris... wow, THANK YOU so much for the fast reply and accurate and detailed ID! I really appreciate it! I have another kalanchoe in the house (one of the more common ones, I suspect) but never knew they were related. Thanks again! Lindsey :)

I bought plant with no identification. It stands upright with rather thick light green leaves heavily bordered with white. It seems to obviously be a succulent. Any ideas out there? Would love to propragate. Thanks

They might have done better to stay in the teeny pots, at least 'til next Spring & by then you could also have gotten appropriately sized pots. For such small plants, w/ a such large volume of soil, the risk is of rot; that the mix will stay wet longer than the plant can take up the moisture often leading to rot or root rot in particular. One way to combat this is to use clay pots (unglazed), which will absorb SOME of that moisture. I'd be extra careful w/ your watering. Next time, just increase one pot size (maximum two), that's the generally accepted rule for repotting C&S.

When it might flower depends on what species it is. And also on where you grow it. Cheiridopsis are very roughly winter growers but in many areas winter is too cold and dark for them to grow, so they either flower in autumn or spring or maybe not at all. I wouldn't expect flowers on your's until next "winter" at the earliest. They need almost no water in summer because they will be dormant, although they will probably still be plump and green. It is normal for the older leaves to die back in summer, generally leaving just one pair of leaves on each head. Eventually the plant will clump up so that you will get a mat of many heads.

Not able to view photo, but does not seem to fit K. tubiflorum (best as K. delagoensis, but if you like Bryophyllum, then it is B. tubiflorum). Leaves should be in threes, or alternate, or rarely in pairs. Leaf is tubular, not petiolate, and with a groove above. Not likely to produce seeds, but does have plantlets which are near the leaf tips with at least one pair of tiny leaves and well developed aerial roots. Yale
