On the advice here & after reading a lot about Earth boxes, I made one just to see the results. Not quite recommended to transplant 2 4-5' tomato plants with cages but I made due. I used rather deep containers so the reservoir would hold more water. I had to rig the cover on the top so that strips of plastic were weaved in & around the cages. After a week I'm pretty darn pleased with the results. It's not been extremely hot here this week, just in the 90's, but I'm only filling the E-box reservoir once a day and still watering twice a day with the plants in regular containers. The regular container plants are still wilting between waterings but the E-box ones are nice & full. I'm planning on making quite a few more E-boxes & tranplanting all of my container tomatoes & maybe some squash. While we've had sungold & blackcherry tomatoes for a month now, this past weekend we harvested the first 3 regular sized tomatoes! The weather this year has just been perfect for my veggies & it's still early. :)

How often will depend on the size of your containers, the type of container mix you use, and how often you have to water them. But many of us find that container plants require regular, evenly spaced feedings unlike those planted in the ground. Since it has been 6 weeks for yours I would say they are well past needing to be fed. Personally I feed mine weekly using a well-balanced liquid fertilizer that also contains micro-nutrients (many brands available) via a fertigation system set up to run though my drip irrigation system. Other growers here who regularly use containers have posted they feed even more often than that using a 1/2 strength diluted liquid fertilizer. You'll find several discussions about this over on the Container Gardening forum. While setting up a regular feeding schedule now won't really help bulk up the existing stems - they are what they are for the most part - it will insure stronger, better developed future growth. I use some Earthboxes in addition to my in-ground gardens and, like others who have posted about them on the Container gardening forum, I have never found the single band of fertilizer applied at planting time to be sufficient for the season. So mine get regular supplemental feedings too. Also keep in mind that if your plants are leggy it is usually due to insufficient sun exposure. Hope this helps. Dave

missingtheobvious is correct. In New York, the supreme court is the court of general jurisdiction that hears cases. It is the opposite of most states and the opposite of the federal court system. I have a law degree but don't practice law and am not well versed in estate law. THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE. However, as far as I know, she can't come after you personally. She can only make a claim on the estate. I believe if the estate is probated already and sufficient time has passed without her making a claim on the estate, she is out of luck. See e.g. http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/nycode/SCP/18 § 1802. Effect of failure to present claim If any claim is not presented on or before the day fixed in the notice published pursuant to the preceding section or if no notice is so published, within 7 months from the date of issue of letters, the fiduciary shall not be chargeable for any assets or moneys that he may have paid in good faith in satisfaction of any lawful claims or of any legacies or distributions to the legatees or distributees of the decedent before such claim was presented. Such 7 month period shall begin on the date letters were first issued to any fiduciary, including a temporary administrator or a preliminary executor, and shall not be interrupted by any subsequent issue of letters, except that the time during which there is no fiduciary in office shall not be counted as part of such period. and § 1803: Every claim against the estate of a decedent other than claims for expenses of administration and claims of the United States or the state of New York must be in writing, contain a statement of the facts upon which it is based and the amount thereof. In addition the fiduciary may require the claimant to present proof by affidavit that the amount of the claim is justly due, that all payments thereon, if any, have been credited, that the claimant knows of no offsets and no evidence of indebtedness and holds no security, except as specifically described in the affidavit.

That is the only living space in the house. It's a townhouse we're renting for a year or two. We sacrificed on space to be close to the beach, which has been an awesome choice, until Irma, of course. We don't have any other "real" furniture for the living area, and we wanted to avoid purchasing anything until we bought a home, but when the old sofa had to go, we had to replace that. So we don't have any other seating, but it's really not a big deal. We don't have kids or family in the area, and we don't have a bunch of people over at one time, so the sectional is enough for our current needs. Is there anything in particular you would suggest for ottomans? I would like something that fits physically with the sofa to get something close to a chaise feel without having to close off the space permanently as you would with a chaise. Finding the right size is important too, as I dislike the really big ottomans for sectionals; they take up way too much space and prevent the use of a coffee table.
