I placed an order with them (my first) last month and had the same questions re: delivery date. It took about two weeks for my order to be sent - and I got a couple bonus packets.

Just be patient - from all accounts, they are a reliable company.

That does seem like a long time. Ditto on checking the confirmation number. I placed an order with Seedman on 11/21 (Wednesday) and they came in on 11/26 (Monday). That is with losing a day because of Thanksgiving. That is great service! And they were on sale!!!

I haven't ordered from hardyplants but all my other seed orders came within a few days. (Dianeseed, valueseed, spring hill seeds and seedman). You can also email them if you have any questions, I'm sure they would get right back to you.

I placed an order with hardyplants too on 11/12. I got a single e-mail receipt for my payment but that was all I have heard from them since then. I e-mailed them yesterday, but have not heard back yet. It does say on their website that they usually process and ship seed orders within 3 to 14 days, might be business days though. I don't need mine right away but I am a bit concerned that I haven't heard anything from them saying that it either shipped or is delayed for some reason. I was wary of ordering from them because the website is a bit messed up and there was an issue with the security of the checkout page. But I went ahead with the order because a lot of people on here recommended them and the selection was far better than the other seed sites. I think they are kind of a small operation and have had computer problems in the past. I just hope my order is ok.

Have been ordering from them for years, it does take some time before you get you seeds but nothing outrageous, seeds are great and prices are reasonable. Always had great germination with them as well. I placed my order a week or two ago and am not worried.

Thanks everyone! I feel much better. I, like molanic, was concerned about ordering from them, but you guys have made me feel better. I guess I am just a little too impatient, but I just want my SEEDS! lol. I just hope they are here by Dec 22nd!

I also placed an order -- November 16th, I think, and haven't received them. Last year they had severe computer problems and it was something like a month before I saw my seeds.

This year, I emailed them to watch for my order with no response, and also telephoned them (had to leave a message). I tried to email again a week later, and their mailbox was full.

I love their seeds. I had good luck with the ones I got last year, and I'm willing to wait, I just don't *want* to! LOL!

Most catalogue websites will have a phone number to call for assistance. Reliable companies want to have you as a customer, they will promptly contact you if you email them or return your call if they have an automated answering machine.

Newer companies can be overwhelmed by a sudden large volume of orders, they can take a while to respond simply because they don't have the manpower to do so rapidly. I'm all for giving companies a chance to come through with their orders within six weeks, but after that if you have no response and you're still waiting for your seeds you should hound them until they do respond.

Personally, with new companies for seed or other products I never send a check but use a card because if there's a problem I can contact the card issuer and cancel the payment through them.

Good news! They e-mailed me back today. They ran out of one of the seeds I ordered and were waiting to see if they could get more, but haven't been able to. They said they will ship it within a couple of days with a partial refund. I honestly would have waited till late December for the order, but I wanted to make sure they actually had gotten it. I would feel like such a fool waiting for an order for over a month that they never even saw.

I can totally understand why they take awhile to contact people. They have their aol e-mail address listed all over the web-site which means they probably get tons of spam. I've made that mistake before. I'm not surprised if some of their customer's e-mails get bounced back due to a full mailbox. Small operations don't have the time to be fielding the telephone all day either.

Yay, Rhonda! I have been interested in this thread because I just placed an order last week. Out of curiosity, which seed were they out of? Hope it wasn't one that I had ordered! If so, I need to email them to tell them not to hold up my order! I have some sowing to do! :)

That's good news Rhonda. Small companies can have awful bottlenecks at times and I'm sure they're painfully aware of it, hopefully they'll work the kinks out of their system in short time.

And of course, let us know how those seeds germinate and grow--it's always nice to know a new source is also a reliable one.

Some smaller seed companies take much longer after the new catalogues come out, at least in my experience. From about January till March or April they'll take longer than, say, in August.

I recieved my seeds from seedman yesterday. It came 1st class mail. I was so happy with the service. I had ordered them on Sunday, got in on the 50% off sale and everything came in. I was supprised to find that they had included a plant marker for every packet of seeds. I will order from them again.

Hmm, hope my experience is as good as yours, Rhonda. My billing from Specialty Perennials (affiliated with hardyplants) came in on my credit card today, but still no seeds, which were ordered November 21. I checked Garden Watchdog; there's a number of negative reviews posted.

I ordered mine about same time as you are and have not received it either. I have to say it is longer than usual and I wish those companies realized that having more popularity brings more orders.

I still have not received my order with hardyplants from 11/12. It has been almost two weeks since they said they were going to ship it. Minnesota to Illinois is not very far to ship but the weather has been pretty bad lately and that might slow things up a bit. I think I am going to have to contact them again in a couple of days if I haven't gotten it yet. I saw some of the reviews at Garden Watchdog too, but chalked it up to their computer problems in the past.

After this experience, I don't know if I would order from them again. They do have a good selection and reasonable prices, but the worrying drove me nuts. They did send me 3 packs of seeds I didn't even order (they were similar to what I wanted) and gave me a refund on one of the packs they were out of. The problem was the wait. I suppose if I knew that it would take that long, like when I order plants in late winter for spring delivery, I might not have minded as much, but I kind of expected this order to be sent promptly. If you guys receive your seeds I might order from them again.

Oh my gosh! I forgot to report in -- I received mine Monday or Tuesday.

It was a long wait, but the Post Office isn't helping; I just got an email yesterday confirming delivery on a swap that I sent ages ago.

It was a long wait and I was crabby about it, too, but golly! He has some of the best seeds around! I don't think I could say I wouldn't order for him again with a straight face. Park's. Grrr. Now Park's is a place I really would like to cull from my sources, with that exhorbitant delivery charge, but then that darn color catalog comes....

Still no word on the seeds that I ordered on Nov.26th. I emailed 2 days ago (Dec. 12th) to check the status of my order but haven't heard back from them yet. I'm not in a big hurry, just excited to get them!

I have placed 2 orders with them and it took a couple of months to recieve them but they also sent 4 extra packs of bonus seeds.I do think they are a smaller company but they have a wonderful choice of seeds..i'm sure you will get your seeds and probably extras...:)

I got an email saying my seeds had been shipped. They didn't say WHEN they'd been shipped, though, so I'll wait several days (in case they JUST shipped), and if I don't receive them, I'll try emailing again. I'm inclined to think that Paul's response to my email means he's operating in good faith.

Oh, I think he is in completely good faith -- I think he's a seed nut. I think he sends a pack of extra seeds and actually *thinks* about what you might like as an extra based on where you're located and what you ordered.

I wonder if he posts what he has before he actually gets them, or somehow sells outand has to get more. One person told me he sent a note that said he was sorry for thedelay hathe had to wait for 3 of them to come in, and my order form wasmarkedthat you could tellmy order was held up for 3 different kinds.

Probabaly he lists them before he breaks them down into smaller sizes. I also think he runs a germination test on them, every batch, and that takes time.

I think he's a kook, and probably has the very best seeds than money can buy.

I just have to remember all this when I am in a rush to get my seeds from him and it's taking forever. I guess he should just puton his website that he has a 3-4 week delivery. That would shut us all up. LOL!

Wanted to report that I got my seeds today, and agree they were worth waiting for. He sent generous amounts, and an extra variety or two as well. I'd order from him again.

Reporting in....finally got my HardyPlants.com order from early November this last week. Had to e-mail them about my order three times, third times a charm. First e-mail two weeks after order I was told it would ship the next day. Second e-mail a month later got no response. Third e-mail two weeks after that got an immediate response saying they didn't know what happened to the order but they would now ship it...which they did. One thing was out of stock and refunded. They did send a few extra packets, but they were just extras of the same seeds already in my order.

Don't think I will be ordering from them again unless I really really want something that I can't get elsewhere. I know other people have had good experiences, but many have not. I think ordering from them is a total crap-shoot.

I'm with you, Molanic! If he's got something I just "have" to have, and can't find it elsewhere, I would take a chance, but otherwise, it's just not worth the hassle. I placed my order on 11/29/07, and it took 3 unanswered emails, and 3 phone calls, but I finally received an email yesterday stating that my order had shipped. The first time I spoke with them about the order, the gentleman did mention that the end of the year was very busy, as that is when their seeds came in and everything had to be germination tested. If they explained delays on their website, or gave some indication of how long orders take to get processed, I wouldn't have minded so much. It is the lack of communication, and apparent disorganization that I found frustrating. Hopefully, my seeds will arrive this week. Most are perennials that need to get WS.
