I haven't signed up but I follow it. It's a little confusing. JT means 2 things 1. junk train box with your junk going on to next person's house ,each person takes out what they think they will use & adds to the box before sending it on with some of their "treasures"2. JT means this little cute clothdoll that is the mascot & is taking the journey (so we are all kind of along even if we didn't sign up) I think they get a special rate on the box. I know one thing, JT(the doll) must be wrinkle proof as they all stuff her in & she looks great!! They need to bottle that up & sell it to the rest of us LOL Jan PS if I got anything wrong, please feel free to correct!

We have two postings going on for SS gifts...I posted this already on the other post, but didn't want anyone to miss my great stuff..... I opened my Secret Santa box last night and what a HAUL!! My loot came from excess frou frou a.k.a. Syble and I couldn't believe the amount of GREAT STUFF she packed in one box!! I just kept opening and opening gifts....a junkyard cat statue complete with springy neck, a beautiful piece of driftwood, a metal sconce type candle holder, a wire basket, cardinal mini birdhouse, a ceramic birdhouse container, a BEAUTIFUL bottle bug, one of her handmade metal flowers, a dragonfly windchime, a lovely garden plaque, copper wire, bobbles, a little bird statue, and a GREAT koi statue too! Oh, and a little camper ornament...that won't blow away like our real one did! I can't even imagine how she got all of that in the box...and, as an extra bonus, I even got her taping gun!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU SYBLE!!! It was a blast opening everything and I LOVE them all!! There was so much stuff, I had to take two pictures to get it all.....YEEHA!!

Hi dchall, I'm over in College Station. No, I hadn't found the FAQ yet (I don't think so anyway... Read so much lately!), but I will certainly go hunt it down. On my first couple of posts, I was definitely fixated on NPK... Within a couple of minutes of my reply wondering if I should wait for the soil test, I found an article that turned on the protein/carbs light for me though exactly along the lines of what you are saying. Although the light is on, it's flickering a little still though.... :) I see time after time where people are comparing the NPK of grains/meals. My current assumption is that the NPK of grains is still relevant b/c the microbes I'm trying to feed w/ protein/carbs are releasing it into the soil as they work on digesting the grain (along with lawn clippings, etc.)... So I may still have a little brain fog, but I'll keep researching and put NPK on the mental back burner. I homebrew beer and there is a hops shortage this year, so I decided to plant some several weeks back. I dug up a new planter along the side of the house where I was seeing the yellowing the most. The grass is pretty well rooted. Not terribly deep, but certainly not above ground. (That weekend I would have been happy to have had such a bad problem that all of my roots were in a thatch layer!!! My back still hurts from removing all that grass!). So I do have room for improvement on the root depth, but I THINK that I have caught on to all of this in enough time to not be as bad off as I could have been and can continue to wean it off of water. I had reduced watering last year to about an inch per week, but I did it cold turkey. I've turned off the automatic sprinklers several weeks ago and am trying to just water when the soil is drying now. On the homebrew topic, I read last night that spent grain (barley) is high in protein (but most of the carbs are pulled out in the brew process). I sometimes spread those out on the lawn (blindly thinking "this decays, it's probably good for the lawn"). I'll have to start doing that more regularly. I don't make enough to cover the whole lawn, but it's nice to learn that it is a safe supplement.

quilly, What run flat tires? I don't use the run flat tires. LOL! Since the sport model comes with two different size rims (whose tires suck in snow), we have an extra set of regular size X5 BMW rims that we use - with regular tires. I admit the original rims and tires have taken up a ten year residency in our garage. We are always meaning to put them back on in the summer but never do. Lately I have been thinking about selling them. While I've noticed some buzz about warranty questions if the tires are replaced with regular tires, our dealer has never mentioned a word to us about our tires and this is our second X5. No run flats outside the ones on the original rims in the garage. That said, the Cayenne is a real drooler. I *love* the sexy rounded looks. When I see one, my DH says, "Watch the road!," as I mutter, "That is such a beautiful car..." I am spoiled by BMWs generous service program, which has kept our cars in brand new condition for an additional $3K up front. DHs 2003 BMW has not cost us a dime to maintain, other than tires. Even the wiper blade refills are free under the extended warranty program. Our son's 2004 Prius costs us more and Prius is one of the cheapest cars out there to maintain. I love cars. I may be the only woman in the Drs office who reads 'Car and Driver' magazines over 'Good Housekeeping' every time. It's not even a close competition.
