Thank you all for kindly commenting! Sherry, no I don't have any issues with rabbits. I have rarely seen any around here since it is mostly wooded and no fields...but.....I have had a deer problem in years past. They don't bother my gardens anymore. Apparently deer have a good memory and don't ever want to be sprayed by the motion activated sprinklers again! I haven't used the devices the past couple years and have had zero issues. Maryl, I was born in south Georgia and I remember my Granny's camellia bushes and how I loved them. I have lived up here in NH since 1974 and I love it here but I still long for and wish I could grow camellias! So you are right about zone envy.

Still more.. looking weirdly shaped because these are last year spikes, they stay green so I didn't cut them out of curiosity And a nice surprise, this one has bloomed earlier this year, I have posted about it here a few months ago..

I would take any bloom right now too. Fern stone always has some sad blooms at first here too. Dumortieri is full of buds that are showing a bit of color. Probably will be a week or so before it blooms, no scapes on Fern Stone though. Probably won't see any on it for a couple of weeks.

My jungle bell I got from Park Seed on October 15. It loved the heat mat and our Carolina sunshine! It is actually a lime green but I could not seem to get the color to show up in my photos.

Night Star is beautiful, Kristi! I do love the Cybisters!

Jungle Bells is quite the green bloom! I love it! Green is such an unusual flower color, or I should say, used to be such an unusual flower color! Amazing!

Glorious!

My 2nd Evergreen spike will open today I think...long long stem on that baby! Now I will get to actually see what it is supposed to look like. The first bud was so dried out in transit it was hard to tell. My 3 replacement "Angelique"s from McClure and Zimmerman are sending up buds now, anxious to show me that they really are the one's I had ordered last year (that they sent me an unidentified pink instead o). Next will probably be my new Lemon Sorbet from Van Engelin. And Carnival is starting to push up buds.I have 3 of each of those.

I have 40 mostly new ones potted up now, and will start potting my old ones and in another 2 weeks. I will have to stage them carefully this year to give everyone a turn at the lights!

Beautiful early bloomers, you guys. I am jealous!! I just finished re-potting up the last of my bulbs yesterday...now the wait..........(sigh)

I did break down and go for the twofer from Wayside for Jade Serpent. Small bulbs, one was completely clean with a few decent roots. The other (the freebie I am guessing) still had old skin and some rotting 2 layer deep and just 2 little roots. Sure would be nice if one turns out different and surprises me like last year's 2nd Zombie turning out to be Harlequin!! I put them in the same pot since they weren't competing for root-room. I'll separate them after they develop more roots.
