A. nizandensis is the one I both have heard about and have, a small one but just waiting for summer here. Are you saying A. nigra is one of the parents of A. 'Sharkskin', but the other parent is unknown? I thought the A. f-r, as it's formerly known, looked familiar.

Huh? No, I thought I said A. 'Sharkskin' = A. xnigra (I just left the "x" off the pic post so as not to confuse, since this is an N thread and not an X thread).

To elaborate further, A. 'Sharkskin' = A. xnigra = A. nickelsiae x A. asperrima.

@chadec: Quite a while. Very slow grower until it eventually forms a cohesive rosette, then it takes off. The plant pictured above is 2' across.

Wow, hanzrobo and Laura really have some strange looking succulents. I love em all.

Thank you. The A. neomexicana is 14" high and should grow to 18" eventually and 36" diameter. It was planted yesterday so still a bit upright from the grower's pot. I needed a small one in that spot. A. americana grows to 10'in my neighborhood.

So if other people get to use outdated names, such as Neochilenia, Neoporteria (both Eriosyce) and Notocactus (Parodia), then I will show my Nolinas (aka Beaucarneas). Here is Nolina guatamalensis
