I looked up the hardiness zone for meyer, and it shows to be zone 8 which has a minimum temp. of +10 degrees F, that is if they are planted in the ground. Being in pots, they lose 1 - 2 zones of hardiness which is bad news. But since you covered them, it may have been enough to save them if you insulated the rootballs well. Only time will tell. I would leave them be for a month or so, and then start pruning them back, looking for green in the stems. If you prune all the way back to the main trunk and still find no green, the only chance is if they come back from the roots. At that point, I would watch for sprouts coming up from the soil, which may take a few weeks.

Just fyi, I have a friend in Dallas who, for several years, has keep her Meyer from freezing (planted in the ground) by stringing on Christmas lights and then wrapping in frost cloth.

Lemons and limes are among the most cold tender of citrus fruits, so I feel sure they're totally dead, roots and all. However, to be sure, gently bend the branches, and if they snap, they're dead. If it were me, I'd wait until spring is here for sure, then cut down to just above the graft. I doubt they'll come back, but it's possible.
My area doesn't get as cold as North Texas - our lowest temp this year was about ?23 degrees - but I still don't try to grow lemons. Instead, I grow a Louisiana Sweet orange and a Brown's Select satsuma. These are about as hardy as citrus gets, at least the type that makes sweet fruit for eating.
You can always grow rue, wafer ash/Ptelea trifoliata or one of the Zanthoxylums/toothache tree/hercules club, except for wild lime/Z. fagara, which is cold tender as I recall. Of these, Ptelea trifoliata and rue are the most popular with giant swallowtails for egg laying.

I have both Meyers lemon & Samatsu orange trees in pots & kept them in the garage this winter. Neither of them were touched by GSTs last summer. The orange looks great but the Meyers lemon leaves are all shriveled so I'm not sure if it is dead, too. I was going to plant the samatsu orange in my yard but decided it probably wouldn't do well & am glad I didn't since we had the coldest temps this winter in over 15 years! It got down to 6 degrees for the low.
I had several perennials in pots that might not have made it either. I had dug up a lot of Katie Blue Ruella for my MIL & they probably all died because of our severe cold temps!
Dana, I didn't realize that plants in pots lose 1-2 zones. Now I'll know for the future!
I hope your plants make it! I will pull off all the shriveled leaves & hopefully it will rebound.

Thanks everyone! We have had these trees for six years and kept them outside with no problem, but this year's now infamous Superbowl week cold snap here in Arlington got the best of us I am afraid. Thanks for all of the advice.
