The Golden Arches - Actually Good for Your Health

A late December sojourn with good friends and an acknowledged expert of Agaves (his book is coming out in May, published by Timber Press) who, to my good fortune, is becoming a friend.

Destination - finding Agave x ajoensis (just to cut to the chase, we didn't find the GPS location given to us, but part of the group found a location of some other plants - I saw only one myself, as I didn't keep up with the mountain goat-like pace of some of the group)

Location - somewhere in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument

And this is a flatter portion of our hike

This saguaro is unusual - none of us had ever seen a dichotomously cresting one

Yes, that's Cactus McFryerBurger again - it was good to spend some time with him - he was grooving on the cacti, as were all of us.

Rockin' the crest

A live saguaro (Carnegia gigantea) to the left and a dead organ pipe (Stenocereus thurberi) in the foreground

In another forum, Christopher hss remarked on my Agavication - I would like to inform him that it's the same as it ever was.
