jodik, that is a gorgeous orchid. I love phals but I keep my home way to cool for them in the winter. I lost about 10 when I moved up here, one was over 20 years old, the house is just too large to keep warm enough for them. Oncidiums, dendrobiums, and Cats do fine but the phals just couldn't take it.

Your condition must be very severe... Whenever you go to a garden center, you pick up all kinds of diseases, and they have quite strange names: Picotee, Red Nymph... You should be more careful. Phalaenopsis sounds like a really serious sickness!

Chaz - Thank you... I'll have to be sure I keep the apartment nice and warm over winter! I'd hate to lose this beauty, or the other beauties from Cindee! My bones demand warmth in winter, so me and the orchids will get along splendidly... the only thing lacking is decent humidity, but I keep all the plants grouped, which helps, and I'll also mist them. That's terrible that you lost a 20 year old orchid! I'd cry! Oh, man... sorry to hear about that...

Soultan - Plants are like potato chips... you can't have just one! Yes, I admit to being a complete garden junkie! I collect all sorts of things, and I can't help myself! I collect beads, amethyst and marcasite jewelry, Hippeastrums, Orchids, Daylilies, antique garden hand tools, unusual planters... and I'm starting to collect other garden Lilies and Miniature Roses! Is there a "Gardener's Anonymous" meeting anywhere near by??!!

Ooh! I went flea-marketing today... you'll never guess what I came home with... I found 2 Delft Blue old fashioned Bulb Forcing pots, for 75 cents a piece!!!

I'll say one thing... there are much worse things to be addicted to!!

Jodi, let me know when you find a "Gardener's Anonymous" meeting group, if you find a "Amaryllis Anonymous meeting group", even better. I can't believe how many bulbs I will be collecting this month, it's almost a shame! =) I should be investing in stocks or something productive. =) It's just soooooo addicting that I almost feel like I'm going to start feeling embarassed to invite people over soon with all these terracotta pots all over the house that look like I've planted random onions in. I'm really going to need to have someone stop me, before I lose myself lol. But on really on a serious note, I do think my collecting is getting a tad bit out of hand so I'm going to stop after two more orders. =)

Hopflower - If you're looking for some of those Delft Blue bulb pots, I'll keep my eyes open for more... if I find some, I'll send a pair your way. We go flea marketing about once a month, and shopping almost every weekend. I'm bound to run into something sooner or later!

Paxfleur - When people come to visit, I hope they come to see me and not my house! Our little apartment is looking more and more like a home for wayward plants and bulbs! Terra Cotta Orange is the predominant decorator color, the lighting scheme consists of grow light fixtures giving off that fluorescent glow, and when you walk in, you immediately notice the delicate scent of cinnamon and soil wafting through the air! If I find the "Amaryllis Anonymous" group, we'll pretend to go, and slip out before the meeting begins to find the nearest garden center!! Sound like a plan??!! :-)

The "Old Guy" was just mentioning today that there was an abnormal amount of plant material living with us... but since he packrats computer parts, he can't say a word about how many plants I collect, and in fact, he has "enabled" me more than once by purchasing the plants for me!!

Yes, I mentioned in another post about those pots; I remember them from several years ago when they used to be quite popular. I have the crocus one, and I would love a bulb pan or pot for paperwhites and Hippeastrums.

Okay... It is hard to get a mother or father for this second Residence bulb, but I try not to give up... It is from Meyer's fortune... And it is just coming out to the public. It is brown colored and have multiple petals, like a double flowering variety... I like it. I'd like to see it up close and personal.
