Brilliant! I started a thread several weeks ago before you came back to GW, to ask if anyone had experience with artificial lighting for Crypts in fish tanks. No-one had, but now you have!

That is a stunning setup you've created and it has given me all sorts of ideas for my own unoccupied tank. Two things I'd just love to know: What sort of lighting are you using? and, How are you keeping the algae out of that beaut little waterfall - pond algaecide?

You've turned that aquarium into a real feature Chanin, the waterfall is a nice touch, and I like the way you have created the river bed to give the impression it disappears into the background. Well done.

What a creation! It would certainly be great to be able to sit and look at that living picture on the wall. The waterfall idea is great and would be so relaxing to look at as you "de-stress".

It amazes me how someone can look at a "before" and make it an "after". I have no eye for this stuff whatsoever. I'm in awe of people who do. What a fantastic job!!!!!

Wow Chanin! That is such a beautifully composed miniature landscape - and artistically photographed to boot. I agree you have created great depth in clever, subtle ways. Love those happy frogs too! They certainly look like they're enjoying their natural environment. The close-up images are very convincing, with all components perfectly to scale.

I imagine viewing that tranquil scene every day would give great pleasure, and even more at night with the internal lighting. Congratulations!

That is such an inspiring terrarium! I used to keep reptiles and always fantasized of a habitat like yours... Would it be okay if I featured it in my blog as an example of how to bring the rainforest indoors?

Very nice job, Chanin! So much better than a hanging picture on the wall. I'm just curious how you access it for watering and maintenance. Does it open to the outdoors on the other side?

Actually, I would like to keep some alive reptile pet inside,
but my mom don't like feed-cricket hopping around!

Paul, there are four 36 w. Grolux tubes above the tank , but actually the light source
came from natural sunlight, 50% filtered through plaxiglass roof.
BTW I also used to keep Clown Trigger and Humu Humu trigger, kind of personallity fish, right?

The plants are just decorated with their container, so it's quite easy to maintain or replace.

Great minds think alike? because I have a 60 gallon that is part terrarium,part seed starter and catchall for anything that needs high humidity and warmth-like Selaginellas and Pineapples...but I have been thinking of making it like yours for very tender warm shade plants that never do well here.
I wouldnt mind a Ficus that banyons since our low humidity outdoors in the SF bay area doesnt allow the largest Ficus sp. to do that outdoors.
Anyway's you've done a great job!
