Beverly, if I could, I would ask for some morning glory seeds for the noobs. I harvested some of mine last night, but it appears the drought has really taken its toll on my vines. I like sending MGs to the noobs because they are so pretty and easy to grow. AND...I know you have a million of them in the back.

Seeds are rolling in - thanks Kimka! three of those packs are winging their way with some other goodies to Illinois! We need more newbies!

I'm still limiting this to the winter sowing exchange, but will expand to the main exchange as this project evolves.

To date, 630 packs of seeds sent all around the country with 42 participants. That number includes donors and a few private requests from vets. We have a wide variety of seed and I am able to average about 20 packs per request. I have several SASBEs on the way - but we need more newbies.

Remember newbie is anyone new to growing from seed, winter sowing, etc. Old gardeners welcome. Heck, even if you aren't new to seeds, but want to try more stuff - let me know.

We have had donations of seed packs, bubble envelopes, postage, etc. There is no reason that anyone who wants seeds can't get them.

Other than my own seed envelopes, the only cost to me is my time, so don't be shy.

I would like to contribute seeds to the project. Send me your addy! Are there special labeling requirements? I have a lot of seeds in those tiny plastic zip lock envelopes with the name written in but not much else in the way of description. I used a sharpie and there didn't seem to be much room for anything xcept the name!

Wow, my 1st ever posting in any forum!! Hi all, am so happy to have found this site. I've been an avid morning Glory seed collector for years now, but never knew/realized all the other plants that so willingly give of themselves!! Am still learning the ropes at this house, as previous owner had alot going on here and we moved in in winter and the 1st spring was amazing. Will be spending the day outdoors seeing what treasures I can find. Would love some seeds from anywhere. Have never heard of winter sowing.what will do well in zone 5? Do Mandevilla's seed? Just wanted to let Canadian newbies know that there are newbie packs available from w/s vets on the Canadian exchange. We can't post on the U.S. exchange, so just search out Canadian forums for the exchange page. Of course I don't mind! We love our Canadian friends and I am so glad that there's noob packs for up north. If I tried to send packs from the post office with the customs forms this project would be much more difficult with work, kids, etc. I can do the U.S. project anytime - day or night. And...I do! (just picked up a carfull of clarinet bandies from high school after party).

If this is still going I would love to take part. I have had to give up all of my veggie seeds, can't plant them in the new neighborhood and have to convert to flowers. EEK, I am awful at starting flowers from seeds and starting them from plant is just way too costly. So let me know what I would need to participate.

Hello, My daughter and i are trying WS this season and yes we are Texan. We would have had a great season last spring but we were floded out. We read for almost a month tring to learn what we can And we are so ready. We redid the beds and my lil'ones are ready for this too. It will be there homeshcool project. texalima, that is a great question for newbies (you need to unblock your email). Basically, it's a self addressed stamped bubble envelope. I have instructions (that may cause more questions than answers) over on the post on the winter sowing exchange. Perhaps this is a good time for someone (I'm swamped) to start a SASBE thread to explain what it means.

That in mind, there are various styles, rules, techniques etc. for SASBE. I'm pretty easy - I have donor evelopes and stamps to correct newbie mistakes and am happy to do so. I just want to get seeds in gardeners' hands.

Check out my member page and seed exchange posts. If there are more questions, post again. Chances are there are many other new to seed gardeners with the same questions.

Yet another huge donation arrived this time from Jim_b packed with seeds. Another generous gardener throwing some very interesting items into the mix! The kindness shown by folks supporting this project is really astonishing. I have called Storygardener several times recently (she lives near me) and we have spoken at length about all the good there is on this forum and others.

Unblock your email and post on the exchange. There is plenty of seeds for all.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I received my newbie seed pack. I thank you, Bakeman and others for donating so generously. I can't wait to get started!
