Well it's not quite 90 here yet lol! Upper 40's and low 50's are about all were going to get for awhile :D Night before last it rained all night until the wee hours of the morning; hard at times too. Yesterday it was windy and a little tiny hail came mid afternoon but had my first crocus bloomed! Today will be sunny and 50 :D Clumsy...what do you mean your sedum are just starting to emerge? All my sedum are beautiful all year long and turn purple or bright orange, ect. for the winter months.

Ron, I'll show you mine if you show me yours. *wink* Truth is, this is my dad's - taken in June 2006 the day we had the plastic put on. We had the skeleton up for six years or so before we got the plastic up. Now it will likely be another six years before he does anything with the inside. We've debated heaters and ventilation systems, what to grow and when...my family is mainly just "talkers." We all talk about what we're gonna do ______________ (fill in the blank: next week, next month, next spring, next year, someday). LOL! I'd love to see your pictures. Maybe it will inspire me to get my butt outta this chair, drive the five minutes to Pop's house, and do something in that big old honkin' greenhouse.

Many of the groundcovers/living mulches/perennial tapestries that once clothed my garden have by now been stolen or otherwise removed, so I'd love to have seeds of easily direct-sown flowers, herbs and/or vegetables that can be kept to 3' or lower with which to cover the ground. There are short or dwarf forms of many flowers that Celia Thaxter grew in her island garden off the coast of New Hanpshire(?) in a diagram of her garden, accompanied by a list of her flowers here: http://digital.library.upenn.edu/women/thaxter/garden/garden.html Anything from her garden or similar that might help keep weeds down would be much appreciated. Some suggestions are: Asters - ones like tiger paws? other? Coreopsis - threadleaf Cosmos - dwarfs, like Popsocks etc Dianthus like "Picotee Pinks (D. chinensis x D. barbatus in our time), Sweet William Helianthus angustifolius(sp?) - Willow Leaf Sunflower - leaves are slender like willow leaves - not in Celia's garden, but she would have loved this if she had known about it - not all floppers welcome on my slopes, but this one would be wonderful anything blue and spikey like larkspur, but doesn't expire because of Maryland summer heat & humidity Anything attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies, bees Mallows including malva, althea (dwarf), etc. Marigolds- any - like Tagetes tenuifolia(sp?) - Cottage Red Mignonette (Reseda odorata) Poppies - Eschscholzia like 'Rose Chiffon', Papaver alpinus, P. nudicaule(sp?), P. paeoniflorum Silene - any Zinnia - low growing - Chippendale? disease resistant like Profusions, haageana, Zahara If all goes well, I'm hoping this will approximate my New England grandmother's garden of long ago

I really like Orange Velvet . That is my kind of orange . I am not wild about the bright halloween orange that many plants sport . Oddly I like nice bright intense colors but the same in Orange ........well not so much even though I grow several . But I could lose them and not feel too badly.
