Winter (calling all winter experts)

So I have a newly found passion for gardening. However I was previously a "buy every spring" guy. This year I want to save what I have and not spend $500 in spring. Here are my plans. Please let me know what you think. I am zone 8 in Dallas, but we are so unpredictable like last year we had 12 inches of snow in one day...its pretty risky. You won't/can't offend me, so please give me the feedback on this plan.

1. black stem elephant ears - wait for death and then trim to bulb dust off and store in paper bags

2. calla lilies - same as elephant ears

3. begonias - same as elephant ears

4. potted ferns - bring inside

5. potted aloe - bring inside

6. potted succulents - bring inside

7. potted hibiscus - bring inside

8. goldust aukuba's - leave outside

9. yellow blossom jasmine - leave outside

  1. asiatic lilies - trim down, but put pulbs in dirt in un heated garage no water

  2. dusty miller - take cuttings and grow in garage green house

  3. sweet potato ivy - same as dusty miller

  4. coleous - same as dusty miller

  5. hostas - leave in ground

  6. bloodleaf chicken gizzard plants - same as dusty miller??? Not sure on this one
