Cut off the big leaves since they are doomed on the plant as is. You can save the leaves for rooting as well. Cut the stems to about an inch from the leaf surface. A tray or small pot with a quality potting mix or perlite will be your best bet. Wiggle the cut rhizomes into the mix much like a bearded iris with the rhizome (root side) making good contact with the potting mix. Water in and place in a shaded area. If indoors you may need to cover the pot or tray with clear plastic to keep humidity high. Do the same thing with the cut off leaves by pushing the stem of the cut leaf into the same media.

The one I showed above was bought at Harmony Foliage with Mr. Begonia (last year's ABS president) telling me the names as I was labeling everything. What can I say? I just go with the flow... That seems to be the problem with names in begonias (and everything else) - someone drops a tag and sticks it in another pot or you can't read someone's writing or everything is labeled rex begonia. I was sure when I saw this last night I had seen that begonia with an identification, but I couldn't find it on their website or elsewhere. Then this morning my eye fell on the Logee catalog, and there it was. Why it's not on the website, and why they would fail to identify it properly when you asked, is beyond my understanding. Anyway--it is B. 'Tea Rose'. From the picture I would guess it to be a 'trailing-scandent', and the description says it will 'flower profusely year around' and when given high humidity and heat a 'rich yet sweet fragrance greets the senses.' Sound like a good one for down here! I'm increasingly frustrated with Logee's--seems like their prices go up and the number of offerings decrease with every new listing. But I suppose it's worth the price to encourage them to continue offering at least some!

bt - I ask for the fallen leaves if I see some I want, never had been told "no". But make sure you don't take any from the stem - you wouldn't want to buy a plant with picked off leaves... No more preaching, good you realized that it wans't good thing to do. I appreciate that you didn't just disappear after getting a mini-lecture... I can't id the leaves, but if any grow you will be able to. Don't worry about temps inside, they will be ok. They should get light, but not necessarily sun at this point. Black one is most likely goner. I usually leave them just laying around, on the table, or top of the mix. I plant them in potting mix once there is little plant. Some ppl will bury leaves. Whatever you decide to do, make sure they don't get too much water on them. Don't expect all of them to start growing. Often, you'll see tiny hair-like roots growing, other times first a little plant & no roots, until later.
