desert Irises for AZ

Hi, I'm new to Tucson but have been gardening in MN for decades! and have lots of TB iris. I want to plant some iris that are more in keeping with the desert.

Does anyone have any experience with Iris 'Dardanus', a cycloregelius type Iris? I bought rhizomes and am at a loss with how to plant them.... lay them horizontally?? How deep? As their heritage is middle eastern desert, I thought it sounded perfect for getting through our hot summers.

Also I bought Dutch Beauty Iris bulbs? What can I expect now that they are planted? Will they come up soon and flower or will they just have leaves for several months before blooming? I'm disappointed at the lack of info for gardens trying something new. All over the web there is info for TBs, Sib., et al, ad nauseum but none for the "exotics". I would really appreciate any help with these two types of Iris. I live at the base of the Tucson Mountains. Thanks!
