Harvest Photos (Heavy on the pics)

Just thought I would post a few pictures of the things we have been harvesting this week, to encourage others that don't have a lot of space, to try a vegetable or two. The sense of satisfaction you get, from eating something you grew from seed, is a wonderful feeling. Plus, my kids will eat the veggies out of the garden, way better than they do the ones I buy from the store.

Purple Haze and Rainbow Mix Carrots and Spacemaster Cucumbers

San Marzano and Cherokee Purple Tomatoes with Basil, Marjoram, Parsley, and Oregano. Yep, we had pasta for dinner that night!

Rainbow Mix Carrots with Sungold and Black Cherry Tomatoes

My oldest son helped me turn this bowl full of cucumbers, harvested yesterday afternoon ...

... into 6 pints of dill pickles. It was my very first time to can, and I'm so excited, that we are going to try salsa next!

This cucumber got a little too big for pickles. The tomatoes are Cherokee Purple and Black Cherry, and that's my helper's big paw.

And all of these wonderful vegetables came from this tiny veggie garden

It doesn't take a lot of space to grow a few veggies. That space, which is approx. 5' x 12', currently holds:

8 tomato plants

8 pepper plants

7 pole bean plants

3 canteloupe plants

8 cucumber plants

4 kinds of basils

2 dozen onions

3 3' rows of carrots, spaced 2" apart

About a dozen marigold plants

Happy Harvesting.

Bonnie
