Great pictures, as usual, Tiffy! I wish I could have been there with Pit. I love the goatsbeard, and I'm curious about the Inula Goliath. I Googled it, and it sounds interesting. From what I saw, it sounds like it has sunflower-like flowers? Is that right?

Neil, Glad to hear it's doing well. The Mama leaves are now at 3 feet. Also trying a new one with cool leaves - Inula Magnifica.

Dawiff, The stalks are filled with flowers which I liken to Dandelions. They go all the way up the stalk. I'll see if I can find a photo and post for you.

Flood, That Clematis is Josephine. Not one that you prune in the spring. I like it too.

Wonderful pics. as usual Tiffy. The cranesbill geranium on your rock wall looks like one I just pulled out of several places in my gardens. The original little piece grew into a nice little mound, maybe because it was not in the best environment, but the other pieces I transplanted balooned into great incontrollable balls. I saved one piece in a pot maybe to fill in an inhospitable spot. Pity because the leaves have such a beautiful fragrance. I had two beautiful plants of Inula Goliath from the seeds you sent me, but my neighbour's dog got into my yard and guess what he dug out!! They would have been so nice next to my large sedums. Now their cat has had a litter of three little kittens under my shed. They just came out yesterday. There's always something!!

We drove through Toronto, Montreal, then cut across Vermont, New Hampshire & Maine.
Guess what? I have driven back from Canada 14 times, this is
the very first time our car was searched by the US Customs. You cannot take anything, absolutely nothing, no plants, no fruits, no vegetables even from the store.

I would have loved to haul some plants home too. lol.

You are so kind! The Solidago has settled in quite well with it's relatives around the property. Not sure if I mentioned it but we have 14 Solidagos which are native to our province so it must feel right at home. :O)

Are you home yet? Donna, the lady's who's garden you also visited was asking about the blue flower in one of your photos which you posted here about your 'jungle'. I told her my guess was a Clematis, but she was asking if you knew the name. Let me know if you do.

I really like that Geranium Macrorrhizome (Big Root). In good soil it does fill in very quickly. I have to remove part of that one which you see as it is getting way too big. Thiking of surrounding the base of a maple tree with it. The deers won't touch it because of the nice musky perfume you mention which is a bonus.

I'm taking off for the next few days, but I'll check to see if I have more of the Inula seeds and send them your way. If not we'll send them to you this winter. There's always another winter to sow. :O)

WOW Piti had a lovely garden to stroll through - it is so much fun to meet a fellow GWebber and share in person what we try to share in pictures. I too love the goatsbeard - gonna have to see how it will fare in zone 8 NC ......

I had a Solidago canadensis at the garden at the temple. I can't remember whether I planted it or it had been there
before. Boy, did it run and fast!

I also have native Solidago 'Wichita Mountain'.
It's the loveliest of Solidago. It actually looks so different that people don't think it is a Solidago.
Bumble bees swarm the spikes. Too bad I have no room for it at home, so I planted it at the temple for arrangements.

No, I am not home yet, but may reached home tomorrow. We had to cut our trip much shorter than planned, because I developed an upper respiratory infection and very, very high fever.
Could be because I had just finished a course of Prednisone that my allergist had prescribed for my newly diagnosed asthma. That's why I think I was infected easily. Saw a physician on Cape Breton Island on Monday.
Enough of that.

That is SOME garden she has. I still cannot get over how natural it looks. It even caught my husband's attention. And he never pays attention to my gardening. I was surprised too when he showed interests when we were walking around your garden. Please tell Donna we truly appreciate her letting us visit it.

Tiffy, everything looks wonderful. Does your inula Goliath stay pretty well behaved for you? I have inula hookerii and it needs a firm hand, romps around pretty aggressively from the root but the two plants don't resemble each other a lot other than yellow flowers....just wondering.

This Inula grows from the base and only spreads by seed, no romping from the roots. The seedlings are indentified very easily and can be culled or transplanted.
