It seems like John Scheepers pubhishes its catalogue in June final. What you have there is what you can order till quantities run out. I have already placed my order with them.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll put in an order w/Scheepers this week. I hate to order early because of hurricane season. I'm always worried they will be sitting at the postoffice while I'm fleeing.

Thanks for calling this to our attention! I send in orders this week for Royal Colors, Van Engelen, and McClure and Zimmerman (To replace the misnamed ones they sent last year (3 Not Angelique and 3 Not Lilac Wonder!)

THey have it stated on their web site that the bulbs will be true to name so for any of you who also had misnamed ones from them, now is the time to collect. They did answer my e-mail this time!

They have never replied to my e-mails about the mislabeled Angelique. I got tired of writing them. I'd just like to go there and slap someone for a bulb. It is so stupid to ignore a customer for one single bulb! They guarantee that their bulbs turn out true to name. Then live up to that promise!

So what did you order from Scheepers, dear man?? There aren't many catching my eye yet this year. But I am keeping my options open. I surely do not need more...YES I do...naw you don't really...BUT I want MORE!!!

Well, I guess I'll be ordering too! I do like the look of Gervase. Soultan enlightened me on that one.

For those who have both Red Pearl and Black Pearl, what is the difference in size of the flower as well as color?

Jody - I have Red Pearl, and I was very pleased with its performance. The flowers are large and about as dark red as it gets... I really don't think Black Pearl is that much darker, judging by the photos I've seen. Red Pearl is a good grower, too, with very large leaves. The bulb never really shrank after flowering, and has been solid and healthy since I've had it. I like Red Pearl.

I was looking at Lemon Sorbet, Gervase, Fairy Tale and Wedding Dance... all from John Scheeper's. I haven't really looked too closely at Royal Colors' offerings, or those from anywhere else, either. This time last year, I wasn't even thinking of bulbs... it wasn't until later in the summer that I even came here, looking to gain more knowledge on my Minerva... and that's when I met all of you and began my "hippi career"!

What other new introductions are out there this year? Has anyone found anything else interesting and new?

Soultan, to get a response from M and Z on the mislabled bulbs, Try going to their web site and clicking on "Customer Service" and sending an E-mail that way. That is what I did recently. I also had tried e-mailing them last winter without results. Perhaps they do not keep office staff on hand after the shipping season.

Gervase is one that has caught my eye too! I don't really see anything else so far that's tickling my fancy.

Soultan if I knew Zombie was on your list I would have gotten you one last fall/winter when they were so cheap and I got Jodi so excited about it. You will love this one. It is one of my most loved. She is very photogenic!

Cindee: Maria bought Zombie for me last season, but it turned out to be Harlequin, so that is why I am "rebuying" this variety. So many mislabels. My list of haves shrunk under 200 again.

I just never tire of gazing at Zombie! Thank you, Cindee! The combination of color and all those luscious petals... it's the most gorgeous flower I think I've ever seen! If I could only have one bulb, besides my sentimental Minerva bulb, it would be Zombie, hands down!

I perused Royal Colors' offerings just now, and I've tentatively got my eye on Rosalie, Monte Carlo, Bright Spark, and Double Dragon.

I haven't had a chance to check out any other catalog listings yet, but it looks like I'd better get moving on figuring out which varieties to move to the top of my wish list!

Glad you all liked my Zombies. One of them is now Jodi's! So yours should bloom this year again, Jodi!

Soultan, harlequin is so wonderful. I am glad wayside screwed up my one zombie order and sent me that instead. In all that I ordered, that was the only milabeled bulb, so I feel lucky.

I am looking for more really different or new bulbs this year. Like I said, so far Gervase is the only one that has my attention. If any of you see something new, please let me know.

I can't thank you enough, Cindee! Since I have no plants that will survive your heat, and you keep insisting that it's not necessary to send you anything... well, I finally found a few doodads that I think you'll enjoy! So, look for a surprise package sometime next week! Heehee! I finally found some things you will be able to use, and hopefully, they will make you smile!

I like Gervase, too... I've also got my eye on Lemon & Lime, and the new Lemon Sorbet! I just love that green!

And speaking of plants that WILL grow in Florida... the Tithonia seeds I planted are lovely little seedlings now... growing fast! I can't wait to see them bloom! I don't know if they'll become the trees that your Tithonias are in Florida's climate, Cindee... but I do think they'll be pretty! The seeds were in the rack next to sunflowers at the store, so I'm expecting some tall plants, at the very least.

Cool, Jodi. You didn't have to send me ANYTHING! We had some incredible storms last night. They actually broke branches in the center of the Tithonia rather tan to the outside! It needs a little thining out anyway! I love the sweet honey smell of their flowers.

It will be a little while yet, but I will be enjoying the honey scent of the Tithonia before the summer ends! I just transplanted the little guys into a community pot... there are about half a dozen seedlings. As they outgrow this pot, I'll move them to the garden.

Our weather has been so goofy, that things I would normally already have in flower are just now beginning to grow beyond the 3" and 4" pots I place them in as seedlings... it's been a weird year, weather-wise! I just hope everything makes it to bloom size before fall!

I know I don't have to send you anything, Cindee... you constantly tell me that! But I like to return favors, and you've been so wonderfully generous, and you've got me started on such wonderful new hobbies, like orchid growing, for instance! You know what they say... "Do Unto Others As You'd Have Them Do Unto You!" And by gosh, I'm going to do unto you... so you at least can open a gift box and smile, knowing the person who sent it chose it and wrapped it with friendship and care!

Opening care packages and seeing the surprises within, sent by my dear friends, is something I enjoy so very much! How can I not return that favor?!! :-)
