almost 2 inches to be exact. Yeah! I turned of the sprinklers, so they will not water tonight or Saturday night. It's all about saving water :)

It poured at my house in Marana, near Tucson last night. Everything was soaked this morning. Tons of thunder and lightning. Around 7:30pm, the clouds were so incredibly dark, you'd think that it was the middle of the night.

It was GREAT!! The thunder rolled so long and loud it shook the house. I'm grateful the power didn't go out, though. I had standing water this morning. Almost had forgotten what that looked like...

Moc, there is a place in Florida that carries the spot spitters. I think they sell retail. We ran a drip irrigation line, attached spaghetti tubing and plugged in the spot spitters, then stuck them into the ground under or between plants. The reason we are familiar with them is because we used them at the nursery to water the tree stock in pots, Upon thinking about it, couldn't see any reason they wouldn't work with drip irrigation hose, tried it and it worked. They deliver a lot more water faster than the regular drip irrigation spinners and drippers. We had a light rain this afternoon for about 2 hours, and I mean light. Tonight when I went to bed it started again but didn't last long. First moisture we have had in 3 moths here in central SD. Just enough to settle the dust. I thanked God for it though and prayed for more.

I would just be guessing, but I would think they are trying to get oxygen. In the spring/summer I run an aerator to give mine extra oxygen, because they need that in the heat. I have a 4000 gallon pond and I just buy a cheap aerator, under $50. Karin

Hahaha! Almosthooked, what a magnificent idea! It never occurred to me to take pictures of my garden from the roof. I'm too old for that too, but it is tempting! The next best thing would be a camera on a go-pro stick out my second story window.

In Cordes Lakes that "nice rain" was accompanied by gale force winds and grape sized hail. My garden looks like someone went at it with a shotgun ... followed by a fire hose. TOTAL loss. I'm just happy we harvested our bumper crop of peaches a few days before this storm. Oh well ... I guess I can start thinking about fall crops.

I keep watching shingles fly off my roof into the back yard with each passing storm. It's time for a new roof, but funds are a little tight right at the moment, with just having to replace the AC this spring. I'm going up tomrorow morning, with some new shingles, roofing cement, puddy knife, hammer, and roofing nails to see if I can repair the damage. Fortunately it is not leaking at all, in the attic or the house. It has two roofs on it right now. I can only assume that is why. So I feel your pain. You can think of me sweating bullets everytime the winds pick up too....hehehehe...
