Honey Bees have taken over my salt water pool
Comments (23)It's not just salt water they want. We have a fresh water pool and it's not so much the water, but the white pipe around the return from the pool filter. My husband made valves where the water returns to the pool with 2 different shut offs. Depending how you adjust them one pipe returns the water directly in the pool. One has a spray head that sprays the water into the air over the pool to keep the water cooler in the summer because it gets way too warm if not. We live in South Texas, enough said and with adjustment it also makes water run down the slide.. The honey bees congregate all around the center of that pipe and more and more keep coming. Last year it was the white stair rail going into the pool, however we've been blessed so far, they are not aggressive at all. When I hook up the pool vacuum, I have to have my face ,hands and arms right in the middle of them swarming around me to get it hooked up and they haven't even attempted to bother me, Thank God!! I was a little concerned at first, but so far so good. Anyway, just saying, it's not the salt....See MoreSalt Water Pool and Pavers
Comments (4)I wouldnt bother, I have never seen pavers damaged by salt. If you have a dog or something that gets in and out of the pool in one place alot, then just hose off the pavers in that area occasionally, so the salt doesnt build up. Once you seal, you have to continue to seal, creates a mess....See MoreSalt water pool / SWG -- salt levels dropping!
Comments (4)Below is a link to salt test strips. You can probably find them locally as well. Quote: "Free chlorine = total chlorine" Are you saying your testing is showing no combined chloramines? Because FC does not equal TC, TC equals FC plus CC. If your CC is zero, then yes, TC does equal FC. But the point is your pool uses more FC in the summer due to the heat and bather load, you don't necessarily see that reflected as CC in testing though. Also direct sunlight burns off FC. Since the sun is higher in the sky in the summer and out for a longer period of time you lose a lot more FC. The lower your CYA the more FC will be burned off by sunlight. This also will not show up as CC. Here is a link that might be useful: http://www.tftestkits.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=5...See MoreWater Pooling into Lawn (Water Run-Off From Driveway)
Comments (6)If this is as small an area as it looks, a smallish dry well might resolve it. Dig out a hole (three feet wide and deep, perhaps?), put landscape fabric in the hole (a large enough piece to cover the bottoms and sides and top), fill it with rough gravel or rocks, fold the landscape fabric over, cover with dirt and your sod. You can search for dry wells to get a sense of how they work - largely some extra space between rocks and gravel to give some buffer while it drains into the soil. It's not magic, you can still get too much water. I don't know about how close one can be to your garage or driveway. Before doing that you may also want to check how any gutters from the garage and house are throwing water out, ie redirect them or further out if it's easy....See Morejonathan_blaylock_gmail_com
