Update on tomatoes....Wisconsin 55 isn't producing very much and Black Cherry hasn't set any fruit at all yet. Didn't take any updates on these.

Update on Pumpkin 'Bat Wings'. Very good production going on with these 2 plants. I'm pretty impressed. BTW if any is wondering why no pics of the Minnesota Midget Melon, it's because the germination was low (think I harvested too soon) and the one to go in the garden quickly died :(

First 4 O'clock bloom. That volunteer Rudbeckia is getting cut way back today as it's over shadowing more 4 O'clock.

Volunteer Venidium 'Jaffa Ice' growing in the hardest never-before-worked soil next to the front steps. I couldn't did it up if I wanted to. Guess I dropped seed on the way in last fall LOL! There are a few plants growing there and this is the first bloom.

I always think your photos are like the "Where's Waldo?" books except yours are "where's the cerinthe?" I found it!

Love that volunteer sunflower photo with the dark sky!

Your tomatoes are really coming along. I love the look of that La Rosse Paste! Maybe next year I'll try a tomato with an elongated shape. That pleated variety is neat looking too. So far, I've had one oxheart and two tiger tom cherry tomatoes ripen. My dog got to a few yellow pears that were close to ripening, so I haven't had a chance to try those yet. All the rest of the toms are taking their sweet time. Maybe I should fry up some green tomatoes.

Nice pumpkins! They grew quickly. I think my gourd plant might have a gourd about half the size of my pinky nail, and my zucchini plants looked completely stunted. I'll have to live vicariously through you for a while ;)

Pretty forget-me-nots ... lovely blue. Unfortunately, I forgot to WS my forget-me-nots :) I harvested seeds last year and everything.

My mother's new physician (she never had a regular one until she reached Medicare age) told her way back when she was in her mid sixties to switch from butter to a 'healthy' spread. She was as healthy as an ox, but I think he felt like he needed to give her something for her money, so he gave her some advise. My poor father faced an icebox in it with some pale yellow health spread instead of his butter and he was not a happy camper. I was nursing back then and told her about some new data on transfats (long before it was a popular and well-known word) and that spread had to have been hydrogenated. Their taste buds won out and it wasn't long before she went back to butter. After a life of eating butter, bacon, and other traditional foods, another physical involved a carotid doppler to see if she had any signs of plaque, typical in the elderly. The tech said she had garden hoses for arteries. LOLOL. To be fair, my parents also consumed things like fruits, and nuts, and vegetables, and grains. IOW just a well rounded diet and nothing was 'forbidden'. It served them well. They both lived long past their life expectancy based on life insurance tables, and enjoyed food every step of the way.

Oscar and Dorothy likely just saw you key in the pizza number Dorph, lol. Our old schnauzer makes a fool of himself for pizza crusts, and pick-up pizza is as common as hen's teeth in our house. And the week is young yet, Marda. I have six more days to get the date wrong. I came across this quote by accident and had not planned on using it, but I know from just "life" how important it is to reach out and touch those people who are important to you. It's something many of us mean to do, but tend to put off until we have the time. That's a pitiful mistake you can live with the rest of your life. I try to do it now, even if it means scheduling it and making a note on a list to remind me.

Thanks! clarejoe and Gmom2-6boys, I've posted the earwig trap a few times in a few different threads. Original recipe was posted on the Plant Clinic forum and mm brought it to my attention. Here it is again. To any small container: tuna, yogurt, ect. add 1 Tbsp. each of cooking oil, soy sauce and molasses or Karo Syrup. I'm using Karo since I have no molasses and it is a god send let me tell you LOL! Mix it up well and set out were needed. In some places I have it beneath plants or set in the mulch nearby their favorite plants/seedlings. Good luck, Vera

That sunflower just started opening yesterday morning when I took the pic; I guess that was my birthday flower :)

Mo_girl, those pumpkins I thought I read were actually gourds, but then a few days ago I found out that they are actually acorn squash :) Now just hope they taste like good acorn squash LOL! The plants are going nuts.

Beautiful pics. love the schizanthus.

Don't forget to save seeds of them for next year.

My black cherry is just got blooms on them now. lots of blooms. slow to germinate, slow to bud and flower, but once it starts, look out. you will have tons and tons of them.
