Good luck sandy! I've given up on dealing with most of the invasives on our 35 acres. Its just futile. But I'm hoping to nip the northern oats in the bud. But the birds have probably cast them all over the county by now. I'm trying to take a different approach to all the invasives (bush honeysuckle, green briar, vines of all different sorts, russian olive, brambles......you name it, we got it.) With stuff from other countries coming in all the time, and taking over, we just won't get ahead of it. So.........I'm trying to have a more Zen approach, and appreciate what it brings. Hmmmm......let me think on that awhile.......... Good luck!

I hear that. After several years of flooding in my back yard I dug my own forty foot ditch across the back and am filling it with pebbles for the dry river bed effect and so my toddler can't drown in it. I am amazed and pleased that it seems to be holding quite a bit of the water that runs through my place. I'll also say that mounding has done my garden a world of good and this spring I added a raised garden veg. bed. If you ever want to chat about horrible flooding and clay ohio springs email me. Also I am thrilled that your plants will pull through. I've found that even putting them up on a bench helps in the heavy rain so they can have some drainage through the containers.

You guys are fantastic!! Jenanla: I only have one light "hole" above my island, so I need a fixture that only requires one electricity hole. I would love to do several of the individual pendants, but I don't have electricity for it and adding that electricity is not an option right now. AunttoMichael: I've been going back and forth with PB Customer Service for a week now, trying to find someone who actually sounds confident about the information they are giving me. Strange that the dimensions are not listed on their website; usually they are really good about providing detailed information about their products. Anyway, the first person told me the pendants hang 78" from the ceiling. Ummmm, no. It is not possible that they hang 7 feet down from the ceiling. The second person told me "The track lighting comes with 3 rods measuring 4", 7" and 14" to allow you to determine how far down from the ceiling that you would like the fixture to come down" and that the height of the installed track is 8". So that's how I did my math - 108" for the 9 foot ceiling minus 8" for the track minus 14" for the longest pole. I am eagerly awaiting PB's response to you - at some point I will just give up and order the blasted thing to find out for myself how long it is. But I hate to pay $30 in shipping and handling just to find out what their customer service should be able to tell me over the phone. try_hard ...

The aircraft, whether new or aged (I prefer not to use the word "decrepit") must have detailed, rigorous testing rather frequently. Ditto the pilots. If either doesn't pass - they don't fly! As Monica said - you're in greater danger per passenger-mile on the road to the airport than on the aircraft ... not to mention travelling by bus/train - certainly by car - across half a dozen states! It's mainly that travel by car is a routine activity, but travel by air is not. But who ever suggested that we humans operate most of our lives in a rational fashion?! Also, I hope that the young one who refuses to fly will get some treatment to alleviate the fears enough to allow him/her to agree to use that means of travel ... to not tolerate it will have negative consequences in later life. And the longer treatment is delayed, the more difficult it becomes, as we get more set in our ways (imagine how tough it becomes as one approaches post-retirement!). Plane crashes are more "glamorous" - "spectacular" ... ... than dying in bed. But a much higher proportion of the total population dies in bed ... which doesn't get pictured on TV. But which one of us refuses to lie on a bed? Enjoy whichever adventure of living is part of your life today - this is still God's world, and it's great (if you live in N. America - not so great if you live in Myanmar/Burma, parts of the Middle East including Iraq, Africa, India/Pakistan or Afghanistan). Being close to 80, I think - I'm sure - that I'd much prefer flying on an aircraft at whatever level of decrepitude to dealing with the examination to be offered by the Admissions Council to the Great Beyond that I expect to be my lot, as a heedless North American/European, after the portion of my life that's been lived on earth is completed. ole joyful
