I love Bannana trees every since my grandmother gave me a piece of one of hers and I planted it. The tree grew at least 15 feet tall and it was so lush and giant and beautiful! This was when I lived in FW. In the winters it would die and then come back in the spring.

I now live in Austin and realize that banannas actually can grow fruit here! So, I went out and bought some plants and am so excited to see what they do.

One is a dwarf variety, but I don't remember the name. Anyway it is huge and I think I need to separate it some and propagate it. It has flowers too...big funny looking things. You can see little rows of hard green bannanas under the flower petals. I will take a pic and post it soon. I wonder if they will change much and actually ripen? I've never seen the process so have no idea what will happen. :)
