Wilderness - when you say pets, what kind of pets are we discussing? Apparently Permethrin is very toxic to cats and fish, though not so much to other mammals. From Wiki: Permethrin acts as neurotoxin, slowing down the nervous system through binding to sodium channels. This action is negatively correlated to temperature, thus generally showing more acute effects on cold-blooded animals (insects, fish, frogs...) over warm-blooded animals (mammals and birds): * Permethrin is extremely toxic to fish and aquatic life in general, so extreme care must be taken when using products containing permethrin near water sources. * Permethrin is also highly toxic to cats and flea and tick repellent formulas intended and labeled for (the more resistant) dogs may contain permethrin and cause feline permethrin toxicosis in cats.[7] * Very high doses will have tangible neurotoxic effects on mammals and birds, including human beings. Permethrin does not present any notable genotoxicity or immunotoxicity in humans and farm animals. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Unfortunately I use everything so far that has been mentioned- sticky traps, vacuum, fans, area around plants is clean, no standing water- I spray the drainage holes with BTI too. One thing to mention to everyone is, that if you did not know, mosquito bits are just another form of BTI. So by using mosquito bits I'm only going to use a different form of this same stuff I've been using for the last month. Gnatrol is BTI too. Thomas I don't have any around the house or in windows. I think if you have those they are really fruit flies as the fungus gnats stay very close to the plant itself. I'm ready to just repot everything (54 plants!) and use gritty mix as I think that might help! Nancy
