Here is the bed that I finally finsished planting with all of this rain it would be extremely wet and so I had to let it dry off a bit.But I finally got everything planted. All of this bed is grown from seed this year except for the bell flower in the middle.

Store bought pansy on my crack soil. My zinnia I planted herre last year got to be as tall as me. 6 foot and then taller than me.

foxglove from seed sown last year.

And last but not least the great tomato experiment of 2008. We are doing a test to see which produces bigger and better tomatos either upside down or right side up. There are also some pepper plants here as well. All of them have a mix or either store bought marigolds or they are seed started marigolds.

very beautiful!! and i am so curious to see which does produce more!! i am so interested in the answer!! ummm do your fingers type faster than your letters?? mine do that, either that or my letters move, i can't figure out which one it is!! LOL HEE HEE man, i sooooo love your planters too!!! Medo

yeah sorry about the spelling. My fingers are alittle bit faster than the they should be. And I hate to admit but I don't often check what I just wrote. I relie on spell check. Which isn't here.

Wow, thank you for looking and for all the kind words. All of you inspire me on a daily basis. :) Medo- I love weird colored things too. LOL. Bonnie- I'm glad you like the shape! It was kind of scary digging up so much grass, I felt like I was going to get in trouble or something, LOL. DH told me that he thought the shape slightly resembled a golf course.....he may just be bitter though. :p Terrene- Our soil is mostly heavy sticky clay, the new beds were very light and almost dust. I amended everything with homemade compost and store bought manure. I add seaweed to my compost, that's my only secret. I've sworn off chemical fertilizer and only add it to the containers. I'm trying to figure out which plant you're talking about....the one to the left of the Forsythia and to the left of the Hosta are Solomons Seal that a nice friend traded with me. Trumpet vines would be awesome, unfortunately I think my neighbors would object. I overheard one of them say my garden looked like an "weedy jungle" and the one on the other side thinks I'm insane already. Lynne- I've lived vicariously through this forum for years! I'd be more than happy to share some of the pink Hollyhock seed when they're ready. I grew the pink and peach from a mixed bag of seed and according to my mom they were gathered from a pink, peach and a darker maroon plant (which I have yet to see). I have some of the original seed ready to go right now if anyone would like them. Just shoot me an email! :)

Alycia, you sure put in a lot of effort to get your garden to come together so nicely. Beautiful layout and lovely plants as well. Be sure to take a picture of your NOID's blooms this summer. It will put the final touch to the ID. Then be sure to ADD THE NAME TAGS. :) NOIDs add a touch of mystery to the garden, but you never know what to expect from them. Glad you have a good option for the ID.

I'm with cindaintx - I could skip the kitchen altogether! It's going to be awesome when finished! Funny, I just commented on another thread about corner cabs, and said I'd never seen diagonal bottom cabinets before and then here it is! I think changing those out to 90 degree on the bottom will make a huge difference.

That is so beautiful. I can tell you put a lot of work into it. What a great idea to use the varigated thread. I have a feeling I'll be making one of these someday, as my husband is a train freak, and my daughter-in-law says that if she has a boy she wants to do his room in trains. Sigh...it intimidates, though. I'm the kind that would drag this into a 3-year-long project! Great job!

Nice flowers! I can't wait to see the corner bed in a month or so. What is the name of the flower with the propeller like petals? I really like that one and your rose bush is BEAUTIFUL!

Hey! I think stock might be my mystery seedling! Can you get a close up of those seedlings in the middle of your planter? Are the leaves a little thick (not papery) and do they have fine little spikey things where they attach to the stem?

I'm loving the foxglove and rose. Can you give me the recipe for crack soil?

squirl girl here is pics of the stock.
as for the crack soil I just got lucky and we amended the soil the correct way right off the bat. We just added some manure (bagged from the store) and some more garden soil and tilled it in. The plants love it. Along with the pansey's there is volunteer zinnia so I am guessing that the zinnias REALLY love this soil.
