How do you Northerners replant your bananas?

This past winter was my first with digging up 6-7 foot banana stalks and storing them in the basement. I have a basjoo, ice cream and a dwarf orinoco. Now that warmer temps are approaching, how do you folks that have dug up your bananas replant them as far as stabilizing them until new roots anchor the plant into the ground? I was thinking of getting some 2x2 pieces of lumber to put side by side on each stalk and using something to wrap the stalk so they stay attached to the sticks. Please do share your ideas!
