I need some advise

hello, i am new not only to this forum but on planting amaryllis as well. i have bought some seedlings from ebay. They have tiny bulbs and long roots and they are supposedly a year old. I planted them with the roots staight down and when i firmed the soil up it held up the bulbs pretty well and they are now practically sitting on top of the soil. Should I leave them this way or add more soil to partially cover the bulbs. They are above the hot air register, the warmest part of the house and on a west window. is it ok that they are exposed to bright light right away or should i shade them for now. Thanks for any advise.
