Does anybody know what kind of tree this is and how big it'll get
Comments (4)a tree that popped up a few months ago ==>>> that tree is 3 years old.. based on whorls ... not a few months old ... and its up to growing at least 2 feet per year [the leader growth] ... and that will increases as the root mass increases .... it a species pine ... you see then when you are driving down the road.. they are holding up electric, cable and telephone lines ... it should be no closer to the house than 50 feet .. IMHO ... pines are soft wooded ... and break easily in ice and wet snow storms ... ken ps: you need to get in the yard a little more often... lol ......See MoreSt. Swithun - How big does it get for you?
Comments (0)I see in HMF that St. Swithun is supposed to be a height of 3-5', but I'm seeing photos of it much larger and even to 10' so I'm trying to figure out what to do with it as mine is already about 5'. Does anybody have SS and how big does it get for you? How do you treat it?...See MoreOk, now wait a minute, just how big does Jane Magnolia get?
Comments (3)10 to 15 feet in height after at least 10 years (probably longer in Z5) is a reasonable estimate. The Sooner Plant Farm photo could be of a much older tree and height is hard to determine in a photo without perspective or anything for comparison. The SPF tree has also been pruned to a single trunk. 'Jane' and the other magnolias in the Little Girl series naturally grow in a multi-stemmed, more shrubby manner. They can be pruned into a more tree-like shape if you're willing to do the work each year. It is a good choice for Z5 in that it is a very hardy variety that blooms late enough to avoid most frosts. It will do best in a site out of the wind....See MoreReal life experience with Firelight - how big does it get?
Comments (15)Guyground, the Little Limes are very nice shrubs (tons of blooms last year!), but I was a bit disappointed that the color was more of a dark cream vs the pure white of Limelight. When the blooms changed to pink, it was a weird dirty pink color. I'm hoping the Firelights can give me the white blooms I want and a more vibrant pink color as fall approaches....See Morejohnaw
