You're not stupid...I didn't know rabbits, cursed little creatures that they are, love Dill.

I grew Thyme, Sage and Tarragon for the same reason. Read somewhere their scents would "confuse" animals particularly deer.

At this time of year I'm the one who's confused 24/7...LOL.

Were you a good dinner host and put some grilled salmon under that dill? Sorry, it's not funny as I know all too well.

I've already made my rounds and things are still alive and not blatantly "missing" except another Iris bloom stalk cut off at the knees and left on the ground. If they're going to clip flowers off our plants they could at least eat them instead of taunting us by leaving a perfectly good bloom just lying next to the scene of the crime.

Hope things are safe when you check this morning. This sounds "stupid" but maybe if you get something like a feather duster at a dollar store you can at least take the Dill off the plants themselves and then spread some critter repellant on the ground all around your plants.

Another one that DOESN"T work to ward rabbits is hot pepper spray. They LOVE it - spices things right up for them!

I have a fence. DH has a gun (I know it's not my preferred method.) That keeps them out.

Chives would seem to work better than dill. But you know those rat-bits, they eat anything.

I read the pet-bunny care sites and considered every plant they said NOT to feed the bunny.

Doris, that's a brilliant idea. It never dawned on me to search for what you're NOT supposed to feed pet rabbits.

I didn't even know alfalfa pellets were rabbit food and almost followed Tiffy's suggestion for using them as a way to attract and dispose of slugs!

As strange as it may sound I think the slugs may be easier to deal with than rabbits and other 4 legged critters.

Somebody ate the tops off two of my store-bought tomato transplants. What in the world??!? I don't think it was insect damage because these stems were at least 1/4 inch in diameter.

Every morning I watch the bunny hop around outside my garden. I reeeeally need to get that fence up.

I've tried feeding the wild rabbits those pellets - thinking if they ate a dish of that - they wouldn't bother running over to the greens in my garden... They passed the dish right by and then someone here mentioned that wild rabbits don't necessarily eat what pet bunnies do...

Well, that was a big disappointment, but that's when I discovered the slugs in the dish the next morning.. so while one thing didn't work, I discovered a good way to attract (and then kill) the slugs.

Gardening is so much fun!

Its kinda fun watching to bunny eat the dandelions. (They taste better than chives). She bites off the bottom and eats the whole thing like a piece of spaghetti right up to the seedhead.

Scary thinking about her doing that to the flowers tho.

Can you hose off the fescue? Maybe washing some of the fragrance off would help. Do you have a cat or dog? Although they come with problems enough of their own.

What about simply putting a pile of hay way-far-away from your stuff...if they simply won't leave. If they're fed somewhere else, maybe they'll stay away from your other stuff

Dried blood is a decent repellant for bunnies, you could sprinkle that on periodically until the dill-ness goes away. The blood washes away with each rain, so it's not a great deterrent.

And if you didn't know, that's a fertilizer sold in the garden section. Even though some of the workers don't know that, and they will think you're crazy.

Yes, I definitely know about Dried Blood but our sprinkler system will wash it away every time. I have also grated Ivory Soap - I may do that this afternoon - soap never hurt my plants - but it's annoying to do.

It's really a good thing these rabbits are so darned cute - can you imagine an ugly, nasty wild animal eating your stuff? It's hard to hate these little guys.

So Carrie, did they go after the dill overnight, or is everything still intact?

I have chipmunks. I saw them in the garden today. My zinnias are not going to make it.

All the dill was still there - nothing was touched last night - I picked up all the dill (gee that stuff smells so good...) and felt so much better.

I actually put the dill closest to the edge of the woods - far from my borders - maybe they'll eat it tonight and be happy for a day..(fat chance that would happen...)

Our rabbits don't seem so numerous, haven't seen any the last two years except one dead juvenile. There are at least three cats on the loose including mine, and I think they are getting the babies.

I would never hurt one, but they can be pesky, don't care if they munch in the lawn. Some people have done cruel things to them which made me sick, hit them with a spade and broke their backs. Would rather they be shot dead, can't do that in town.

I would try Liquid Fence. It's expensive but lasts a long time if you only use it on certain things, safe to use, stinks awful at first but not a problem for me, and eco-friendly. May not deter rabbits. I haven't had to use that for some time now.

Two weeks ago I found a nest in my raised bed with 6 babies. This little guy jumped out last Sunday, (MUCH larger than he was just a week earlier!) and now they are all gone - far away, I hope!

My DH and I happened to be looking at the babies when this guy jumped out. He was contained within the confines of the raised bed, so he was kind of stuck - not that he seemed to want to go too far anyway.

MY DH offered to "do something"... but how can you? To this little guy? I just hope I don't regret my decision! On the bright side, the nest was about 10 feet from my lettuce bed, and so far so good!

He is precious - I know - I have mixed feelings - I hate that they can devour precious flowers, but on the other hand, they are so innocent and they don't do this to annoy us, they are just hungry.

Poor little guys (when my husband says said, it makes me mad... because then I think he doesn't get annoyed that they eat the flowers).. LOL (but, it's okay for ME to say it to you)... :0)

Squirrels got a few of my containers... It's impossible for me to do anything about it. I agree with Carrie, they don't do it to us to annoy us, they are just hungry. They're too darn cute and innocent to do anything about!
