does anyone know what its name is?

I'm very very very sure once upon a long long long time i purchased it at either a Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart, Kmart or Target... just don't know its name...

and its never been 'next to' or 'in the same yard' as another amaryllis ever!

Does anyone have ANY charts that would help us determine differences between so similar flowers like all the reds, whites, or striped blooms? Lately I feel like I am just buying the same flower with different names. I don't see how Grand Cru is different from Red Lion for instance.

I think if we knew who all the different growers were, and they all had websites like Hadeco, we'd have some answers. Besides Hadeco, I'm not familiar with any of the grower names.

Even at Hadeco, it is extremely hard to differentiate between Basuto and Merry Christmas.

I think, too, that as a grower constantly exposed to these flowers, and hybridizing them, you would probably see subtle differences that set them apart. We, as novices, and looking at them in photo form, might miss a feature or color shade that makes them different.

Then, too... different growers might produce extremely similar flowers, but each names and sells their own rendition.

It's like certain cars looking the same, but one is a Ford and one is a Chevy!

Okay, here's one for everybody -- Why is it that everyone can see this beautiful flower, and all I get is 16 boxes, sort of to the right, lined up under eachother, that just say:

kitty747, you can calm down. The pictures have been moved or deleted. I don't think anyone can see them anymore.

I find it difficult to see differences, especially with the reds, when they are pictured alone. It is much easier to see the differences when there are groupings of different blooms together.
As I understand, new cultivars are put through a rigorous grading system before they are put into commercial production. Since it would seem that they are testing many new hybrids each year it would not make financial sense (to me)that a grower would put money into something that was virtually the same as something they already had. So, if that logic stands, the problem might be just bad photos. That is why I am so thankful for all the forum members that post their pictures.

I agree, Jody... between the camera used and the difference in monitor settings and how we, as individuals, may view different colors... well... it's not hard to see how some can look alike!
