Greetings Everyone!

Today I took this photo of Aphrodite and wanted to share it.It's a Handsome Hybrid eh? This bulb has 2 scapes with First one blooming.Huge 9" fully double speckled and streaked blooms.It did manage to stay short scaped ~ a foot tall.

I'm impressed.

I also want to say that I am going to maintain and post just on this thread.I'm not a bigshot pro that needs to start a new thread everytime something happens here.It's just not that important of a read.I post mainly here to participate by posting pix for your viewing pleasure...harhar...some pix are not so good here,eh? The Pro's here have all the cultural methods down exactly.I'm just Mr Novice Guy so I'm gonna keep it formatted that way.I know how quickly thread topics get spammed by non-topic chat.Makes it real hard to sift thru searches for anything specific that you want to learn more about. Peace and lets have some fun with these Hipps right?

So handsome, Puma. I especially love the green cats surrounding them..pumas? or leopards? It's a fantastic Aphrodite. I wish mine would pop up so I know where she is. She was fab back when she first bloomed and I had no idea who/what she was.....before I became engulfed in Amaryllis passions. It is interesting you choose to make one post of all your plants! Just don't miss out on everyone elses's comments and photos.

Beautimus Mark! That Aphrodite is really showing off! I love the kitties standing guard over it! Reowwww! Most of mine that are blooming now are on short stems...must be the later in the season, the less energy they have to push up the bloom too far. They won't need to be staked, so I'm totally cool with it!

What is all this pashaw you're talking? LOL! Post wherever and whenever u wanna buddy! That is what I do and I haven't been asked to leave yet...notice I said yet! HAHA!

Wow' theres a bunch of uninformed people on here. First off I have owned an Iron Horse compressor for over 5 yrs and its never failed me. My bro has had 2 in his auto repair shop for yrs without issues. The 5hp is its peak not its running hp. For yrs most companies used that spec, big deal. I own IHP5120H1-US 20 gallon 5hp model. It has a 100% cast iron Vtwin oil style pump and is ASME certified and I can tell you quick the only time I ever waited on it was using a sander. I expect that from any 20 gallon tank because its a small tank and runs out. I can also tell you your wrong about them all being made in China...Its made by Eagle Compressors and was built in Canada and all main parts are available if you would just call them unlike other companies!!! BTW: They build them here in the states too. All their manuals are posted on their site at Eaglecompressors.com. If you want a nice one look at their MaxAir Premiums there's a tuff unit. Much better than I/R or CH. Quincy or Jenny is much better but they are twice the price easy. I know they import the oiless versions and those I agree are junk. They need to stop that, Its just killing their name. I use mine daily with impacts and air tools. Eagle makes or made compressors for our military. They have made our navy's scuba compressors for decades. Ya' they must be junk...Please learn before you spew guys. Just call them if you need help. OK, I have the beauty Pumas is calling Mega Star and the one I recieved from RC named Mega Star open together now. Definitely not the same. My "MegaStar" is opening in almost a denim pink. THe stem is much longer on this one then the deep red striped one. The deep red one looks most like RC's photo of Minerva, though if it is, it is by far the nicest Minerva I have ever had! I love the little ruffle on the upper petals at the center as well as the deep candy apple red color. If I can find my camera tomorrow I will take some comparative shots and see if we can get the right tags on these. This was my 2nd try to get Pink FLoyd and struck out once again....

Jodi-- As you probably know, I've poured over the net and have read so much in books now about these plants and what I've come to know is that there is really no consistency whatsoever with these things! Some will grow like weeds in Florida or Hawaii while they'll also take over your house in Denver or Phoenix. Considering the huge turnout of local orchid growers here in Denver at a recent show I'm willing to give this a try. As for my conditions-- light is the biggest issue. And what a pain when I have a free light source warming things up like mad outside-- stupid sun staying out of my windows. The good thing is, we get loads of reflected light off the building next door. It is quite strong and getting stronger with Spring coming. And according to my little light gadget, things are looking up. I also have a humidifier that is supposedly doing its job-- it keeps things at 55% humidity-- very comfy. But I plan on providing a humidity tray for the plant, too. I got a phal schilll....something species (hehe, sorry I forget the name!). It should be here Friday. I too bought it off ebay. I snuck out between rain showers to take a couple pics too! I'm still trying to get used to the new camera, so please bear with my amateur photography skills, lol. Purple Wave Petunia Orange Nasturtium - I wintersowed this mix from a trade and had no idea what colours they would be. So far I've had yellow and this brilliant orange. I swear it probably glows in the dark, lol. Campanula - can't remember the name of it right now. Dianthus "Strawberry Super Parfait" - Survived the winter nicely and is full of buds. Please ignore the weeds, between working and the rain I didn't have a chance to pull them. Really need to get Photoshop to take care of that, lol. Cindy

It's gorgeous, Mark! It's one I had bloom for me last year, and I really loved it! I don't know the best words to describe this one, but it's a beauty as far as doubles go!

We're a very casual group here, Mark, which I think makes it more fun and enjoyable. I would hate for this to be stiff and all business... it wouldn't feel comfortable.

I'm sorry, I do tend to post off topic quite a bit... there are other forums that I avoid purposely because they're too formal, and if anyone posts anything off topic, they get jumped on by the other members. I don't like that way of doing things. I'm not a big shot pro... I'm just a novice, myself, though I have learned a lot and want to share what I've learned.

Gardening should be fun, and it's all about sharing, and the passion of what we're growing. But it's more than that... these are real people with real lives and families... it's about life, and nurturing, and helping, and by learning more about each other, we can help more.

If all I wanted were the facts, I'd read my books and not belong to this group. I love that this forum is casual and friendly... and I love to see more than just bulbs... I want to see where and how others grow their plants, and I want to know more than just the facts. These are my friends... my forum family!

I just saw her post on another thread... she's been busy, busy... this is the busy time when you grow plants! I'm probably not as large or busy as Larissa is, but I do understand the greenhouse rush!

Whew! I have been busy. I missed you too, Mark ;-) I've been toiling away in the greenhouse. I need to take some pics to share but I hate to stray away from the hippi topic. I think I'll just stick a bulb in the corner of each pic. lol

We have so many tiny babies of all sorts of plants growing in the greenhouse. I wish you all lived close enough to come help. Hahahahaha It's a lot of work. I am diggin' that Aphrodite. I really wanted to buy one this year but when I got to Bluestem Nursery they were already sold out. What the H, people? lol

We're expecting an order today. I forget what supplier it's from. Over 2000 bare root babies. I'm tired of planting and such. Boo.
