If you google the Kordes Roses of Germany (you can choose an english version of their brochure) you will find great information about the newer roses. They rate most of the roses with a 4 star system for resistance to powdery mildew & downy mildew, and separately for blackspot. Also, they use a variety of bs strains to test their roses, so you are more likely to find it actually is resistant to your local strain. The fairytale roses are based on the same sort of breeding new-with-old-roses to produce more of an old type blossom and bushier plant that David Austin has done in England. So sizes vary. The brochure does list most of the Fairy Tale roses as floribundas. Kordes have breeding programs for cutting roses, disease resistant climbing roses, landscape roses and container roses as well as hybrid teas and shrubs, but all newer roses have a primary emphasis on disease resistance because of the new no-spray program of the nursery.

FAIRYTALE PINK is a classic. I have it ordered as a "alternate" if one of my other "pinks" ordered didn't increase enough. I only put it on alternate because I had already ordered it's Stout Medal winning offspring BARBARA MITCHELL. With the vast majority of "pinks" the color is very dependent on soil & climate conditions (temps, humidity, etc) so it does not surprise me that people have complained about it being peachy. If you look at its parents you'll see that its color is a combination of their rose pink and peach. FtP has been used extensively in breeding programs. It has produced 238 registered offspring! Someone has converted it to tet. but only a couple of the offspring are registered as tet's. While researching this cultivar I pulled pictures of as many of it's offspring as I could find and put them into one folder to look for common traits. It seems to readily pass on its lovely form. Colors range from rosy to pastels with a few reds. Its offspring also show an occasional watermark or eyes and fairly frequently a lighter midrib. Besides BARBARA MITCHELL, another well loved and frequently sought out offspring is SUSAN WEBER. One of FtPs parents, JANET GAYLE, has been blamed by some as the potential source for crown rot susceptibility. Don't know that there is any conclusive data to prove this theory but it should be noted that some people have had difficulty with lack of disease resistance with FtP and some of its offspring.

I was happy to see that too. Nice couple! The baby isn't far off, from the looks of this picture. I'm glad to see she isn't doing the Hollywood "preserve your figure at all costs" thing.

Patty- I know. So many rave about her so I'm disappointed that this is def. not FF. I checked your reference picture. She is so charming. Hopefully Pat will have a couple left for me. I've read FFT stays smallish so great for the narrow borders I have. Chris-Pat got back to me already- she thinks it's not Golden Fairy Tale either but might be Sunny Sky. I have Sunny Sky so i can compare the leaves to see if they look similar. If not I definitely got a couple of yellow "mystery" roses. The bloom has no fragrance but I know they often don't on baby plants so that's not indicative that it's not GFT. I have GFT but it's had a rough winter. The leaves don't look like these at all but it could be due to the stress unless what I think is GFT was not labeled correctly since it never bloomed last year so I can't be sure. hmmm... Sharon
