The weeding before the planting

Every year I am so excited to plant my baby sprouts, but first the beds must be cleaned up. Why can't the fairies come at night and get all these weeds out!!!! :)

I've spent two days on 2 large beds, digging and pulling wild onion, crab grass and lots of other stuff. But I remembered from the past that I should plant into the bed just as soon as it is cleaned up (bare dirt) cause if I wait to get all the beds weed -free, by the time I go back to plant in the first bed, IT'S FULL OF WEEDS AGAIN. So I grabbed a couple of containers of poppies and alyssum, made tiny HOS's and planted away. Watered them in gently and came back in an hour and watered again (another thing I had to learn over the years - they really settle in with a nice, 2 part sprinkling).

Anyway, almost crippled tonight. Using muscles I just do not use in my winter exercise program (typing at the computer.. :)) Hope everyone had a productive weekend!

Nancy
