How Do I Make My WS Foxglove Thrive?

I have foxglove sprouts, but am now wondering if there is anything I can do to get them to live through to next year and flower. I usually plant them in a partly shaded garden (about 2 feet out from a low 2 ft wall on the north side of the wall). The soil is fairly clay-y, and a little muddy in the winter but there is never any standing water in the garden. Do they need to have dryer feet to survive a summer and winter? I mulch heavily but don't usually water that garden. I have watered just the foxglove seedlings in the past, but they mostly seem to disappear in the heat of the summer. I usually get a couple to survive long eough to bloom, but that's a couple out of hundreds of seedlings.

Are they like delphinium and simply dont like heat and humidity?
