Newbie - inherited Apple tree - HELP!

I have numerous problems with this tree. The tree is 35 to 40 ft tall, can't see that it has ever been pruned (I have 5 trunks all sprouting at the base next to the ground). Last year the ton of fruit on it was filled with coddling moths; we sprayed this year with Sevin (3 times 10 days apart), got rid of that problem, but aphids have attacked it this year under the ground and spreading upwards. As I said, numerous questions. 1) How to get rid of the aphids? 2) How much can I prune this and how to go about it? 3) I've never had a fruit tree...so when and how to fertilize (in colorado zone 5)? 4) How to best water it to gently get this tree to a healthy status? I'm in for the long haul and it produces a ton of fruit, but two thirds of the fruit is really small. Any and all suggestions welcome!
