A few things blooming here, too. The chill drizzle isn't adding much to our rainfall total, and it is gloomy, but a few roses brighten the day.

I am waiting the the big show, but Ambridge has over 40 buds on her right now. They are just starting to open. Yves and Princess A of K have a few too

Still some blooms even up north here. Some roses really seem to like cool weather.

Aunt Margy's Rose has hundreds of blooms (it's about 7 feet tall), but many of them are balling in the wet weather. Souvenir de Malmaison soldiers on with continuous new buds, and strangely enough rarely balls in the wet weather. Le Vesuve, Sophy's Rose, The Dark Lady, Bishop's Castle, Cels Multiflora, Spice, Marie Pavie and Burgundy Iceberg are also still producing buds and blooms.

Ambridge is so wonderful here in Orange Co., CA. One of the very best DAs I ever grew here. The flower color varies with the temperature and time of year.

M. Tillier's stems and leaves are so beautiful! That is going to be an enchanting sight when he gets large with all the magnificent flowers surrounded by the red and green foliage.

I picked the white and red roses to show for Christmas.

Oooh, those are sooo pretty! Hard freeze last week nipped dozens of buds just starting to open, rats! But I did get a little Mutabilis bloom from a tube plant that just came in last Fri. from Forrest Farm. Should have had a great cluster of R. Moschata & Champney's Pink Cluster blooms, but....

It's been in the 80s but we're due another freeze. Probably no Christmas roses for me except for you guys' beautiful photos.

Even here in the northeast it has been warm enough for a couple of blooms---Zeffy had a few a couple of weeks ago and just last week I was surprised to see blooms on Jefferson Rose---and this is the end of Dec.-----WOW

I recently hosted a Christmas party for one of the clubs of which I am a member. It was almost embarrassing to have all my roses in the beds out front blooming and Christmas wreaths on every window, packages dressed in red bows sitting by the front door nestled in "snow," (plastic and ordered) and all kinds of holly adorning the interior. But I love it. I just wish the red ones would bloom this time of year as well as the Carefree Sunshines, Champney's Pink Cluster and the gorgeous Elina.

I actually had 2 blooms on my Rouletti in my zipper greenhouse last week....I was kind of shocked when I unzipped it to check on my roses. Most of the others have already gone dorment. He's a little fighter!

I am curdling with envy...phooey. With all the wind we've been having, the roses are lucky to have any leaves, let alone blooms (they disappeared a long time ago). Still, the photos are glorious. Thank you and keep them coming. Diane

Amazing Grace is more quartered in the center which is very pretty. The fragrance is very lemony-damask like Tiffany or Pink Peace. My bush's shape is upright and narrow. Flowers come on very large and are slow to open. Mine still made a good sized bush as an own root plant. The color is a warmer pink with touches of peachy pink whereas Memorial Day is a cooler orchid pink in my yard.

Francois is our little pet. He has the best spot in the garden. He was a little own root runt for a few years and I took Jeri's advice and didn't prune him. Now he's all grown up and we like to say that in the spring, he looks impeccable like Mr. Clooney walking down the red carpet on Oscar night. My sister feeds him banana peels and talks to him when she walks by. This is a hardworking rose. He is always trying to flower. There is no fragrance but that is his only shortcoming here. I like the mature shape of the plant because it's compact, round and full with bouquets of perfect shaped roses on the end of good sturdy canes. It does not sprawl or shoot unruly canes into the air or try to grab us as we pass. He's a perfect gentleman.

Mrs Keayes Faded Pink Monthly and Rita Sammons are still blooming away even though they're now in the shade with the lower angle of the sun.

Closer and Closer to Christmas -- and even tho the sun is become a stranger, some things are still trying to bloom.

A few, tho, had been sitting for days, without enough light and warmth to open them, so with more cold drizzle on the way, I picked them mostly in bud. They can open in the house.

'Bishop Darlington,' 'Lady Ann Kidwell,' 'General Gallieni,' and 'Lady Ann Kidwell,' darling that she is. 'Aimee Vibert' probably won't open, but she's come along for the ride.

And "Faded Pink Monthly" is still blooming here, as well, Diane. I think I'm gonna like that rose. :-)
