I checked it out too, Donn. I wanted hosta 'Sagae', but Bluestone does not have it on sale this year. So I went to a few hosta websites and found it at Nylor Creek. Now what am I going to do with all those WSown seedlings that are sitting there in my backyard??? lol Those of you who are into Hostas, Nylor does not charge for shipping & handling! A first if I ever found one. It has a good rating on the Garden Watchdog too. And people on the Hosta forum swear by it.

I should probably ppoint out that I am actually doing more today than reading winter sowing archives and looking at everyone's seedling and flower photos. I'm also smiling at my garden and thinking about what to use for winter sowing containers, what to plant, where it will all go. And I'm stalking all of my flower blooms eyeballing ripening seeds with a greedy eye. I'm sure you all remember what it's like to stumble across winter sowing and suddenly see an easy and manageable way to utter garden abundance. I'm sure I get less starry eyed about it all in a couple of weeks as the initial novelty wears off. Until then, though, expect and awful lot of forum lurking on my part. :) And guess what?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I've got a flower bud on my Painted Daisy (Pyrethrum Robinson's mix.) This particular plant was started in the house, but he has siblings that were started outdoors in sort of cooler weather - facing the elements but without their owm milk jug houses or ziplock bag hats. Still, this plant is a future winter sowing parent plant - so I guess I can write all about him here. :) I really did not expect flowers this year on my pyrethrum. Certainly not early in the year like this. I'm already planning this bud's future as a foundation member of my winter sowing seed team. Part of the excitement is because this guy is a PYRETHRUM daisy! That means that once I get a good foundation stock, I can have an abundance of these guys to grow in one or two gallon pots as well as in the garden beds. With our veg plants in containers, we want to try doing some insect control and balancing through the use of comapnion plants - and having several dozen gallon pots of mature blooming pyrethrum daisies is part of the master plan. This years goal was to get some started to see if I could get it to germinate and them starts som parent plants for future division. But winter sowing opens up the door to mass seed planting as well as vegitative division. And now Pyrethrum Mama has her very first bud. I'm just so proud. I really am glad the the winter sowing group seems to be a magnet for the garden abundance crowd. And I like the way the folks here appreciate garden standards as well as this year's hoity toity new fancy hybrid of the moment. A lot of garden web seems to be full of people buying the season's latest exotic named cultivar of this or that. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's nice to find folks who also appreciate plain old flowers or the odd sport that pops up in the garden. I love to bake rosemary potatoes in the oven. You just mix chopped rosemary, olive oil, and smashed garlic, with potatoes that have been pealed, and sliced, add salt and pepper. Bake on a cookie sheet until done. When we had the floods about 2 years ago, I lost quite a few of my rosemary. I had one that survived, I trimed it down to about half of it size, and it died. I found out later that you cannot trim anymore than 1/3, or it will die, just wanted to pass this along. Barbra,

Odor de doggie will be the only aroma." I don't know you, but are you also the type of person to smoke inside and get sick of people complaining about the smoke? Lot's of people smoke, so those who don't like it should not encumber the rest of the world with their problems (sic). You came across harsh... I was originally (before I read your post) going to post something along the lines of: Please don't spray scents and such into the air before a showing. As someone who went through the buying process I looked at a lot of houses, some had no scents, others had too many scent, and everything in between. My perception of house with too many scents is that they are dirty. Houses that smelled like cleaning products, I perceived as clean. As for houses with no scents... I looked at the house. I am one of those "complainers" who can't stand artificial scents. I can't go anywhere near the first floor of Macy's or walk past a Bath and Body works. Notice I said artificial scents. I LOVE natural scents and they don't make me feel sick. Most people who have an aversion to scents are to the chemicals, not the actual smell. If you place essential oils around, you get the smell with none of the chemicals. For those that like plug ins, you might try the reed diffusers with natural products. They do scent the air, but don't output chemicals.
