Well, tree "A" looks like a crabapple of some kind, one of the ornamental, small-fruited types. The fruit is still hard because it's not fully ripe yet.

Tree "B" is a bit more of a challenge. My best guess is some kind of cherry-plum (in other words, a plum with very small fruits).

Or possibly some kind of hawthorn or another crabapple, and the fruits are softer because they are ripe now. Or, it could be something that doesn't grow here that I'm not familiar with. So, my best answer is "I don't know!"

On "B" -- what do the fruits look like inside -- one large, hard seed/pit/stone, or are there multiple small seeds like in an apple?

Thank you for your reply. I picked up a "fruit" from tree B and there is a pit in the middle...and it smelled yummy. :-)

Also on tree b, the fruits are never hard, they are soft, and yellowish, then they turn a deep purple color, like a small plum. My husband's grandma thought it was a gooseberry, but I haven't been able to confirm that. I know we used to have peacocks and they loved them, but birds don't.

I thought tree "a" might be some sort of crab apple, just wanted another opinion. :-)

Then it would seem likely that B is a plum of some sort as surmised earlier by denninmi.

Definitely not gooseberry, as those are sprawling, relatively low-growing spiny bushes, with small tart 'grape-like' fruits with small little seeds inside.
