Need tree ID's please

I just purchased a house in the Hill Country to the west of Austin and I have several trees I can't identify...

1. This tree is growing out of an old stump in the shade of some live oaks.

Does this tree have double thorns at the bases of some of the leaves? Fruits? Tends to create suckers everywhere? Might be Chinese jujube, Ziziphus jujuba?

#1 is a species of privet (Ligustrum) - invasive weeds in your area.

You won't kill a tree by removing dead parts. That's something that should be done, for the health of the tree. You should also remove all of the sucker growth at the base of the tree.

Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) looks like by the seed pods. Those are seed pods and if it had seeds, it did flower and they are pretty. The tree pic is not bright enough for me to identify by the leaves, so a leaf pic is usually helpful. Mine (and they volunteer easily and we have to weed them out) have been blooming for months now. Nicest year ever for them and we train some into standards......single trunk small trees. Others we let run into hedgerows. I have half-double whites in full bloom now but I am a cooler zone than you.

What color is your tree peony in question? I ask this because digital cameras are not always very accurate with some of the reds. Yours looks more purple. Is that the case? Shima-nishiki is not purple at all. Below are a couple of pics of mine. The above picture is from last year, 2017. As you can see, it is not purplish. The next picture is from this year, a few days ago. In this one, you can see that there is a solid color flower, but it is red. It had evidently reverted back to its sport parent variety, Taiyo. It had 2 solid reds this year with 3 striped ones. I have seen roses do this that are sports also. They can revert back to their sport parents sometimes with incompletely colored flowers. The flowers on yours also look like they have more petals than mine, but that can vary between flowers. I have no idea what you have there, but it is pretty no matter what it is. Maybe this will help in some small way.

The first plant is a Japanese Ligustrum and the second one is a Zanthoxylum hirstum (Prickly Ash). I don't think it is a Bluewood(Condalia). I love the Hill Country. Lucky You!

Wow! You guys are awesome!

So that Japanese Ligustrum is most def not a keeper and will be coming down this weekend. It's blocking the view of birdfeeder anyway!

Spot on with the Pricky Ash! Just read how it has a lemon smell when the leaves are crushed. I remember smelling citrus last time I was fighting the tree for my ponytail. :)

OK, I have two more for you folks...

3. Also growing in the shadow of my Live Oaks. I think I saw the deer eating the leaves too.

4. This is a crappy picture but there were fire ants between me and the tree. I think I remember this one flowering about two months ago.

B'lieve #3 is a Celtis spp. - hackberry or sugarberry, or whatever species y'all have in your area.

On the last three:

The first one looks like a type of Mulberry. The second one is a Celtis sp.. and the third one a Rhus lanceolata.
